CPD Pwllheli star Jini Owen Hughes reached 50 senior goals in just her 46th appearance on Sunday.

Jini is one of a number of exciting young goalscorers playing in North Wales. Her achievement got us thinking – how many games did others play before reaching the 50-mark?

50-GOAL STARS – HOW MANY GAMES DID IT TAKE THEM?

JESS JONES (Llangefni Town) – 33 games
Born: 12-11-2005. Age when scored 50th goal: 18 years 153 days

Senior debut: Jan 29, 2023. Did not score until her 6th game for Llangefni Town and netted 7 goals in 14 appearances in her first season.

In 2023-24 she notched an amazing 52 goals in 22 matches. Last season, troubled by a knee injury, she still managed 24 goals in 15 games.

Jess netted her 50th senior goal in her 33rd match for Cefni aged 18 with the last of a quintet in a 10-2 victory at Trearddur Bay on April 14, 2024.

Is edging closer to a comeback after knee surgery having not played since February 16, 2025.

We can’t wait to see her return.

CURRENT SENIOR APPEARANCES: 51 SENIOR GOALS: 83

ELLA JONES (Connah’s Quay Nomads) – 32 games
Born: 10-6-2004. Age when scored 50th goal: 20 years 125 days

Senior debut: Sep 5, 2021. Netted on debut in 4-1 win for Llandudno at Llanfair United. Bagged 22 goals in 11 appearances in her first season before suffering a serious injury in November 2021.

After several months on the sidelines, having to watch on as Tudno won the Adran North title, Ella also missed the entire 2022-23 campaign before finally returning for the Seasiders’ first team on November 5, 2023.

She scored 14 goals in 13 outings before the end of 2023-24, finishing up part of more Tier 2 league title-winning celebrations on this occasion.

Began 2024-25 at Llandudno, pocketing 15 goals in nine matches before signing for Connah’s Quay Nomads in November 2024. Has since amassed 28 goals in 24 first team games for Quay, winning another Adran North championship medal last term.

Scored her 50th senior goal on her 32nd appearance on October 13, 2024, in a 4-0 win for Llandudno at CPDM Bangor. She was four months past her 20th birthday, but it must be taken into account she missed the best part of two years’ action through injury.

CURRENT SENIOR APPEARANCES: 59 SENIOR GOALS: 79

BETH ROBERTS (CPDM Henllan) – 17 games
Born: 7-6-2008. Age when scored 50th goal: 16 years 331 days

Senior debut: Sep 1, 2024. Scored in her first senior appearance for CPDM Henllan in a 4-4 draw with Airbus UK Broughton.

She went on to have a dream season for the Vale of Clwyd village side, piling up a scarcely believable 53 goals in 19 league and cup appearances – a modern-day North Wales record.

Netted her 50th senior goal in just her 17th senior game while still aged 16 in an 8-0 win at Welshpool – her fourth of six on the day – on May 4, 2025.

Beth progressed to Tier 2 by joining Adran North side Flint Town United this season, While the goals have understandably been reduced given the stronger opposition, her standard of dazzling forward play just gets better and better.

Scored a phenomenal individual goal in a 4-0 victory against CPDM Bangor on November 11, 2025.

LEXI WALSH (Kinmel Bay): 43 goals 20 games
Born: 1-1-2009

Senior debut: Feb 16, 2025. Netted twice on her Kinmel Bay debut as a 16-year-old in a 4-3 loss to league champions Pwllheli.

Hit 15 goals in seven matches in 2024-25 and this season is on 28 goals from just 13 appearances, having only turned 17 on January 1.

CURRENT SENIOR APPEARANCES: 20 SENIOR GOALS: 43
