SHAUN BEST and DAVE JONES report from the North East Wales League

The title race in North East Wales League Division 1 has been blown wide open after FC Queen’s Park beat leaders Broughton United 3-2 at Queensway Stadium.
Corey Smart handed the Park a second-minute lead from an assist by Mikey Latham, who converted a penalty on 37 to make it 2-0 at half time.
On the hour, Division 1 top-scorer Latham added a third with his 15th goal in the league this season and 19th in all competitions (he has also struck 19 times for the Veterans).

Broughton did stage a late rally, Nathan Swann-Jones netting on 76 and 90+6, but the Park held on for a victory which moved them to within five points of United with a game in hand.
At the other end of the table, the bottom two both lost and Chirk’s slump shows no sign of letting up. The games don’t get any easier for the Colliers, who host leaders Broughton United next weekend.
Elsewhere, Overton maintained their 100% record in the Trophy. Acton and Sychdyn also remain unbeaten, but Sychdyn relied on a late show to ‘shea-ve’ their blushes. Ryan Carrington was back in the goals for Caerwys.

CPD Yr Wyddgrug finally got the monkey off their back with their first league victory. The win sees them leapfrog beaten opponents Holywell United on goal difference.
Some big scorelines in Reserve Division 2. Broughton’s Evan Davies is up to 12 league goals and is now just one behind top scorer Sean Humphreys following his hat-trick.
