NORTH EAST WALES LEAGUE: 10-goal thriller at Greenfield

North East Wales Football League action resumed on Saturday afternoon albeit with a depleted set of fixtures.

A deluge of goals at Greenfield made up for the lack of matches in Division One. The game finished Greenfield 6 Castell Alun Colts 4.

In a back and forth game, the hosts surrendered a two goal lead, then Castell Alun briefly had their noses in front. However, Greenfield went up a gear and found four more goals. The result pulled the hosts clear from the relegation places, while Castell Alun remain in mid-table.

Llay Welfare’s reserves moved into the top four and are just four points off top spot. That title race looks far from over.

First met third in Reserve Division Two and Broughton strengthened their grip on top spot with their victory. They needed the points to keep second placed FC Queens Park at bay. The Wrexham based outfit are now five points behind, but have four games in hand.
