One outstanding women’s football team which recently reached the 100-goals mark for the season in just their 10th game is using the achievement to help those less fortunate.

Wrexham Foresters have donated £2 for each goal in the century netted to the locally-based Wrexham Foodbank, which will receive a £200 boost.

Foresters are flying high in their debut season, currently topping the Central Wales North Ladies League with seven straight wins, and have reached the last 16 of the Bute Energy Welsh Cup, knocking out two Tier 2 sides along the way.

They will take on Llandudno on January 4, with a place in the quarter-finals up for grabs.

The Wrexham team has won all 10 league and cup matches to date, amassing 109 goals.

The 100th goal was scored on Sunday, December 7, during a huge 19-1 victory over Newtown with player-manager Kirstie Kural, who has now netted 40 times for the club this season, bringing up the momentous ton.

The goals were shared between Kural and Anna Thomas, five each, Savannah Miller with four, Charlotte Dykes two and Louise Wilson, Kate Tasker and captain Morgan Churchill added a single apiece.

Kural, a true taliswoman for Wrexham City Foresters, commented: “Reaching 100 goals is a huge milestone for Wrexham Foresters and reflects the attacking structure, tempo and consistency we’ve built. It highlights the players’ work rate, decision-making in the final third, and commitment to our game model.

“As a manager, I’m extremely proud of the group and the standards they’ve maintained, and I’m looking forward to seeing what we can achieve in the second half of the season.”

Club chairman Gethin Prytherch added: “We are so proud of how the women’s team is performing in its first year. We really seem to be firing on all cylinders and teams are finding it very difficult to match us.

“To celebrate reaching our century and in true community spirit, we are donating £2 for every goal of the 100. A total of £200 is going to our local community-based Wrexham Foodbank.”

The Wrexham Foresters women’s team is part of Wrexham City Football Club, a new grassroots community club formed less than 12 months ago.

The club is already making waves within the Welsh football community, with some huge victories in their Tier 3 league, which is overseen by the Football Association of Wales (FAW).
