Trearddur Bay put a frustrating week behind them to record a comprehensive 4-1 victory over fellow mid-table opponents Bethesda Athletic.

Having lost to landlords Bangor City 1876 in midweek then seeing three points deducted for fielding an ineligible player against Pwllheli back in November, the Bay set out to restore some parity.

Saturday’s result was even more impressive considering the hosts had to play the entire second half with 10 men, following Harri Jones’s dismissal.

Tom Hilditch netted an early first for the hosts – his 21st goal of the season.

Despite going to ground, the frontman demonstrated excellent agility to swivel and direct a grasscutter that rolled beyond the reach of away goalkeeper Gethin Hughes.

Tis the season of giving and minutes later Pesda gift-wrapped Bay a second goal when a poor defensive clearance went straight to Toby Jones. He accepted the present and clinically dispatched the ball into the bottom corner.

Bethesda came into the game when Louie Turner forced home goalkeeper Paul Pritchard into a fingertip save from distance. At the other end, Hilditch seized on another mistake, but this time his swivel and shot went the wrong side of the post.

Bethesda should’ve pulled a goal back when Tomos Hughes picked out Corey Lundstram in acres of space. With a whole corner to aim at, Lundstram fluffed his lines and side-footed wide.

Bethesda’s cause was further aided when the Bay’s Harri Jones was sent off on the stroke of half time for pulling down Tomos Hughes. Jones, being the last man knew and accepted his fate. Pritchard palmed out the resulting free kick straight to Lundstram, who made a hash out of missing the same corner of the goal again.

After the break, Pritchard pulled off a fantastic stop to prevent Osian Hughes’ curling effort.  The Bay then went down the other end and added a third.

Veteran Les Davies – who recently stepped out of retirement – crept forward from his adopted defensive position and his shot on the turn took a wicked ricochet on its way into the onion bag.

Bethesda kept on pushing. Lundstram was sent clear and he lobbed Pritchard only to see the ball roll wide. It simply wasn’t Lundstram’s day. The visitors finally pulled a goal back when Noa Hughes picked out his brother Osian to convert from close range.

Despite being down to ten men, the Bay continued to find pockets of space out wide. Christoph Aziamale took full advantage late on when he burst down the flank and picked out advancing substitute Harry McMullan. The youngster coolly side footed in a fourth goal for the Bay to seal an impressive result.
