Ardal North West: Trearddur Bay recover from 2-0 down to beat Port with 95th minute pen, NFA retain unbeaten home record

Tom Hilditch broke the heart of his former club with a 95th minute winner from the penalty spot for Trearddur Bay at Bangor City Stadium on Saturday.
Last season’s top scorer for Porthmadog, Hilditch joined the Beach Boys at the start of the current campaign and his weekend double boosted his tally for 2025-26 to 19 goals.
Bay’s seventh successive win in all competitions also lifted them to fourth in the Ardal North West table.
Port looked to be well on their way to victory after goals from Shaun Cavanagh (penalty) and Rhys Alun put them two-up after 66 minutes.
But the game turned dramatically in the closing stages, Hilditch responding on 81 before Sebastian Samuel equalised with 87 on the clock.
Hilditch then stepped up to convert the winning spot-kick five minutes into added time.
On 14 minutes, Port were awarded a penalty after Liam Morris was brought down in the box. Cavanagh put away the spot-kick.
This brought Trearddur Bay to life and the dangerous Christoph Aziamale powered a shot past the post. Shortly after Aziamale had another attempt which keeper Josh Cooke pushed away.
In the 26th minute, Liam Armstrong’s through ball sent Aziamale through on goal only to see his shot go beyond the upright. On the stroke of half time Bay substitute Samuel’s shot was cleared off the line.

The second half started pretty much the same as the first ended with Bay on the front foot, both Toby Jones and Hilditch having efforts well saved by Cooke.
Port’s half time substitute Rhys Alun drilled an effort just off target before Cooke made another save at the foot of the post as Trearddur pressed for an equaliser.
In the 64th minute Port broke away and great work by Sion Williams released Rhys Alun, who fired past Paul Pritchard fo make it 2-0 and send the away fans wild with delight.
Hilditch had a free kick saved and Samuel saw his attempt tipped over the bar as Bay upped the tempo.
Nine minutes from time, the great Beach Boys fightback began. Great work from Aziamale on the left found Hilditch in the six yard box who had a simple tap in to make it 2-1.
The islanders sensed blood and piled on the pressure, getting rewarded on 87 as Samuel’s strike from the edge of the box beat Cooke and levelled the game.
A minute later Port were awarded a free kick after a foul on Rhys Alun, Gruff John’s header from Ryan Williams kick went agonisingly past the post.
Trearddur were not happy to settle for a draw and went looking for a winner. On 95, Cooke was adjudged to have brought down a Bay player in the box, after a consulation between the officials the referee awarded a penalty and Hilditch slotted in the decider.

NFA maintained their unbeaten home league record in a close-fought encounter with Pwllheli at Ffordd Derwen.
Josua Jones gave the visitors a 28th minute lead, Ashley Ainsworth with the assist.
NFA levelled after 40, Thomas Hughes netting from the penalty spot.
The winner arrived on 75, Ollie Staveley with the finish and sub Michael Wrzesinski assisting.
