One of CPD Llangoed FC’s most successful managers is back in charge of the Tier 5 club.

Vinny Walker has returned to Tyddyn Paun, replacing Jay Roberts, who has resigned as first team boss after an encouraging spell at the helm which began in January 2024.

Walker spent three seasons alongside Spud Thomas at Llangoed between 2015-16 and 2017-18, delivering some tremendous successes.

In a golden spell, the Puffins won the Lucas Oil Cup in 2015-16, the Dargie Cup and Bwlch Car Boot Trophy in 2016-17 and in the latter season finished runners-up in the Anglesey League, securing promotion to the Gwynedd League.

Llangoed line-up from 2016

Walker, 37, originally from Huyton, Merseyside, brings experience as both player and manager to the table.

As a player, he appeared for Prescot Cables, Gaerwen and Llangoed & District before in 2008 he set up the Dreigiau Môn side, based at Tree Tops Country Club in Benllech and had success as a manager there until 2011.

Later, he took over as Llanfairpwll Reserves manager in 2012-13 before leading Llangoed to cup and league success over three seasons, the team adding runners-up titles to the trophies they won.

Walker later had spells in charge of Llanfairpwll and Gaerwen alongside Spud Thomas.

He has always kept close links with Llangoed, who in recent seasons have been managed by the likes of Mark Thomas, David Thomas, Dewi Williams, Def Parry and Jay Roberts, who led the villagers to the Cwpan Menai Tractors final and fifth-place in North Wales Coast West Division One in 2024-25.

Also well known for his involvement in Ynys Môn darts, Walker takes over a Llangoed side currently second in Division One and on a run of five successive draws.
