McGonigle scores 150th goal as 1876 roar to top, Bethesda end Prestatyn’s perfect home record

Record marksman Corrig McGonigle notched his 150th club goal as Bangor City 1876 roared back to the top of the table.
It is now 21 matches without defeat in league and cup for the all-blues, who are looking unstoppable at this time.
Michael Johnston’s side continued to dish out pain on the rest of Ardal North West with a four-goal defeat of third-place Llangefni.
A Jamie Reed header forced Cefni keeper Oliver Rhys Jones to tip over the bar before the hosts took a 26th minute lead.
Cai Powell-Roberts sent in a cross and defender Tomos Clarke found the net with a towering header.
Just past the half-hour, the lead was doubled when Tommy Creamer notched his eighth goal of the campaign, Reed with the assist.
McGonigle then took centre stage, firing home an unstoppable free kick for his 18th goal of 2025-26 and 150th for the club he joined in 2021-22.
Half time 3-0 to Bangor and well on course for three points.
Early in the second half, home keeper Carl Jones was forced into a tremendous save before Cefni’s stopper did well to deny McGonigle at the other end.
Reed made sure the points were ultra-safe with his 11th goal of the season in the 76th minute.
Bangor gave a debut to 17-year-old Development team striker Connor John before the end, the youngster replacing veteran star Reed.

Prestatyn’s seven-match winning run in the league at Bastion Gardens this season was brought to an abrupt end by rampant Bethesda.
Having won 4-1 at Llannefydd on Saturday, Pesda made it two huge away wins four days apart with a deserved success at the Seasiders’
Athletic were on fire in the first half, Corey Lundstram breaking the deadlock in the 13th minute from a Joe Todd assist.
Tomos Hughes made it 2-0 with 25 gone, Osian Price setting him up.
And the opening goal combination swapped roles in the 37th minute, Lundstram assisting and Todd finding the net for the seventh time this season.
Town pulled one back a minute before the break via a Robbie Parry penalty.
Any hopes of a big Prestatyn comeback in the second half took a major blow when Sion Bullock made it 4-1 in the 54th minute, Noa Hughes the chance supplier.
And that was the result in the bag for Pesda, although the hosts did manage a consolation in the 92nd minute via captain Alex Jones, sub Loui O’Carroll also involved.
