Porthmadog make exciting new signing!

Left-winger Liam Morris has left CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876 and signed for potential Ardal North West title rivals Porthmadog.

The Traeth outfit becomes the seventh career club for the 26-year-old from Ynys Môn.

Morris’ last engagement for 1876 was as an unused substitute in the Citizens’ 5-1 victory over Port on October 21.

He joined 1876 at the start of 2022-23 and netted 49 goals in 98 appearances across all competitions.

One of the player’s many attributes throughout his career has been an ability to score crucial goals.

A typical example was his extra time effort to give Bangor a vital 3-2 lead in the 2022-23 Ardal Northern play-off final against Cefn Albion which they eventually won 4-2.

Morris started his career at Llanfairpwll and Gaerwen but came to major prominence at Llangefni Town where he helped the Anglesey side win the Welsh Alliance Division One title in 2018-19 with a 22-goal haul.

His performances helped him seal a move to Cymru North club Conwy Borough in summer 2019.

In 2020-21, he joined Holyhead Hotspur, but the team played just once – a 1-0 success over Llandudno in the Nathaniel MG Cup – before the season was scrapped for the whole of Welsh football below Tier 1 due to Covid.

The 2021-22 campaign saw Morris perform well in the Cymru North for Hotspur, notching 10 goals in 27 appearances.

Next came the move to Bangor 1876, where he scored a hat-trick on debut in a 9-2 Welsh Cup thrashing of CPD Llanberis.

He grabbed 21 goals in his first season with Bangor, followed by 12 in 2023-24 and eight last term, the same amount he was on for the current campaign.

Morris’ ability to find the net and be a great provider of goals goes beyond his feats at club level.

He is Ynys Môn’s highest scorer of all-time in the International Island Games, breaking Richard ‘Boskin’ Hughes’ record total of 9 during the 2025 event in Orkney.

Morris became Anglesey’s top marksman at the Games when he notched his 10th goal in the 1-0 semi-final victory over Isle of Man last summer.

In the 2019 Inter-Games final at Holyhead, he scored with a phenomenal volley to equalise for Môn against Guernsey, the home island eventually winning 2-1.

Porthmadog manager Chris Jones will no doubt be delighted to get him on board.
