Pontypridd United 1 Wrexham 6 – Genero Adran Premier

Wrexham romped to a new club record Adran Premier away win on Sunday as they netted six goals for the first time on their travels in the top-flight .

Katie Barker added another two goals to her collection to make it 10 in her last seven games, scoring in each and every one of them.

The Red Dragons temporarily hit top spot after a 6-1 thumping of Pontypridd United, although Cardiff City returned to the summit after winning at Swansea later in the evening.

Wrexham are now undefeated in seven matches and on a hot streak of form – especially on opposition grounds.

Jenny Sugarman’s side took the lead inside just two minutes as Barker’s effort rattled the crossbar and Ava Suckley tucked home the rebound.

Faye Knox scored for the third consecutive game with a clinical finish into the top corner on 20 minutes, but Pontypridd immediately pulled a goal back through Maddison Lloyd.

Wrexham maintained only a narrow advantage until the closing stages, when they scored four goals in the final 20 minutes to seal an emphatic victory.

Barker scored twice in three minutes, putting her on 11 goals for the season, gefore Hannah Snape fired in a free-kick from distance and captain Jodie Bartle headed home from close range.

  • Wrexham have landed a home draw against Aberystwyth Town in the Genero Adran Trophy quarter-finals.
