Gresford Athletic take positive steps forward after departures blow

Gresford Athletic are on the mend.
The club was left in turmoil last Thursday when the first-team management and key officials departed.
Those remaining at the Wrexham-area club were left to pick up the pieces in a short time-span, but the response has been positive.
Athletic managed to get a first team squad together for Saturday’s JD Cymru North clash at Holyhead Hotspur and despite losing the game 3-0, the players produced a determined performance.
On Monday, the club released the following statement:
“Last night Gresford Athletic held a successful committee meeting with a great turnout. The new committee is focussed on ensuring every upcoming fixture goes ahead as planned.
“The key future goal is for Gresford Athletic to remain a thriving and successful local football club.
“In short, the meeting was a big step in the right direction, showing the club’s dedication to the security of our local football team.”
One big bonus for Gresford was the performance of the Development side, who beat Llanrwst United Reserves 10-0 on Sunday and sit third in the FAW National Reserve League North.
The club has assured the problems which have arisen with the first team will not affect its thriving youth and junior set-up.
