Llangefni Town have irons in the fire despite loss of two young strikers to CPDM Bangor

Two highly-rated young forwards have left Llangefni Town and signed for CPDM Bangor.
Milly Lowe and Elin Roberts have switched to the Adran North club after beginning the season with Tier 3 North Wales Coast Women’s League leaders Llangefni.
Roberts, 18, joined Cefni in the summer after a very impressive spell with The New Saints Under-19 side last season.
She scored eight goals in seven appearances for TNS, including five in one game – a 9-0 victory over Newtown U19s.
Back in 2021-22 she was part of the celebrated Caernarfon Town side which reached the FAW Under-16 Welsh Cup semi-finals, alongside young stars such as Jess Jones, Amber Brown, Jini Owen Hughes and Yasmin Wilcox. That season saw Elin notch 21 goals.
She netted 19 goals in as many games for the same team in 2022-23, also making four appearances for Caernarfon Town Under-19s in Genero Adran North.
In 2023-24, Elin broke into the Caernarfon Town Ladies side and also bagged a few goals for the Under-17s.
Since moving to Llangefni, she had made seven appearances, all from the bench.
Roberts was in Bangor’s starting line-up for yesterday’s 4-0 defeat at Flint Town United and played the full 90 minutes.
Lowe, 17, a tall, strong centre-forward, had scored five goals for Cefni this term, including two in a player of the match performance in a recent 3-0 victory at Kinmel Bay.
She first signed for Cefni last season, making five appearances and netting twice, also against Kinmel Bay.
The loss of two promising young forwards is a blow for Llangefni Town, but manager Dan Gregg still has the talents of in-form Amber Brown – 13 goals in 8 games – and the experienced Eleanor Coulson to call on, while goal machine Jen Cox has come out of retirement to add to the striking options.
It is also hoped a comeback for Jess Jones, who hit a remarkable 52 goals for Town in 2023-24 but has been out with a long-term injury, is not too far away.
