Kinmel Bay recover from goal down to defeat Llanystumdwy through Walsh hat-trick

Kinmel Bay 3 (Walsh 15, 25, 87)
CPDM Llanystumdwy 1 (Ellis 4)

Happy birthday to Kinmel Bay Ladies manager Naomii Oakley who received the perfect present from her players – three points!

And star of the show once more was the amazing Lexi Walsh, the 16-year-old magician whose hat-trick put her on 21 goals this season.

Sunday’s clash at Y Morfa saw Bay produce a cracking performance to claim a 3–1 victory over a very good Llanystumdwy side, overcoming an early setback before storming back in style thanks to that superb treble from the prolific Walsh.

The game exploded into life almost immediately with Kinmel Bay firing off a shot in the first 2 minutes with visiting eeper Sara Lacey denying the home side with a fantastic save.

Two minutes later, Llanystumdwy’s Seren Ellis capitalised on a loose moment at the back, slipping past her defender and coolly firing home to stun the home side and put the visitors ahead.

It was the perfect start for Llanystumdwy, who looked sharp and direct in the opening exchanges.

But if the early goal rattled Kinmel Bay, they didn’t show it for long. As the minutes ticked by, their confidence grew – and so did Walsh’s threat.

In the 15th minute, the equaliser arrived. Georgia Williams delivered a perfectly weighted ball through the lines, and Walsh did the rest, racing forward and burying her effort with clinical precision. 1–1, and the momentum had shifted.

Bay pushed on, and by the 25th minute, they had completely flipped the script. Captain Seren Williams spotted Walsh’s clever movement and launched a superb long ball from midfield, dropping it right into her striker’s stride.

Walsh took a touch, steadied herself, and unleashed a composed finish to put Kinmel 2-1 up before the half-time whistle.

The second half saw Llanystumdwy attempt to wrestle back control, but Bay’s organisation and growing confidence kept them in charge, with keeper Shelby Wild keeping their shots away.

The visitors battled bravely, but the hosts looked increasingly dangerous on the break – with Walsh lurking for her moment.

That moment came in the 87th minute, sealing both the match and her hat-trick. Substitute Baileigh Aaron broke down the flank before threading a precise ball into Walsh’s path. With defenders closing in and the clock winding down, Walsh produced an ice-cold finish to complete her treble and send Kinmel Bay out of reach.

A comeback win, a hat-trick hero, and a statement performance from a Kinmel Bay side showing grit, quality, and real attacking flair.
