Gibson’s flying start as Altrincham boss continues

Well-known North Wales football figure Neil Gibson maintained his unbeaten National League record as Altrincham’s interim-manager with a 2-1 victory over Brackley Town at Moss Lane on Saturday.
Since taking on the Robins’ job on a temporary basis last month, the team has collected 10 points out of a possible 12 – three wins a draw.
The Greater Manchester side has now risen to 13th in the Enterprise National League, seven points clear of the bottom-four relegation zone.
Saturday’s win was secured thanks to goals from James Gale and Tom Crawford.
The Robins have now won three league contests in a row.
Gibson took over as interim-manager, wlth long-time assistant Lee Jones also on board, on October 23.
The former Wales Under-21 midfielder’s first game in charge delivered a 0-0 draw at Braintree Town, but next came a disappointing 2-1 FA Cup exit at lower level Slough Town.
Nonetheless, league results and climbing the Tier 5 table are the priority and that’s going well so far.
Gibson formerly managed Connah’s Quay Nomads and Prestatyn Town, winning the Welsh Cup with both clubs.
He was also the first man to lead Prestatyn into the Welsh Premier League, where they spent a total of eight seasons.
Last season, he took over at National League club Wealdstone and worked wonders to save the club from relegation.
