Adran Trophy Group 3: Llywela hat-trick sends Felinheli through, Llandudno top table after a Maddie double

GENERO ADRAN TROPHY GROUP 3

Connah’s Quay Nomads 2 CPDM Y Felinheli 3

Llywela Edwards scored a magnificent hat-trick as Felinheli recovered from two goals down to topple Nomads and advance to the last 16 of the national Adran Trophy.
Felin joined Group 3 winners Llandudno in progressing to the next round while current Adran North champions Quay said goodbye to the competition at the opening stage for the first time.
Skipper Polly Wild-McGregor hit the bar before the home side took a 28th minute lead, Hannah Slack scoring for the second game in a row.
Ella Jones got a touch on a Wild-McGregor cross and the 17-year-old Slack fired home the loose ball.
Three minutes later the lead was doubled when Ella Jones produced a beautiful curling finish into the bottom corner from just inside the area.
Felinheli’s best effort had been a Fflur Williams strike which Meg Bowen saved superbly, but they pulled one back in first half added time when Jenna Tugwell-Allsup was taken down by the keeper in the box and Edwards scored from the spot.
Ella Jones, Aimee Redfern and Megan Galeandro all went close for the Deesiders at the start of the second half, but that vital third goal eluded them.
Then on 69 minutes the visitors equalised. A long ball over the defence from Shannon Jones released Edwards, who had one opponent to beat.
The former Taffs Well and Cardiff Wanderers attacker, who captained the side today, cut inside on her right foot and fired over the keeper to the top-right corner.
And in the 80th minute, a marvellous away comeback was complete.
Great work from Rubie Davies saw her fouled outside the box on the left. Edwards took the free kick, which curled directly into the net to make it 3-2.
Nomads pushed hard for an equaliser which would have sent them into the next round, forcing a series of corners, but Felin defended superbly in the latter stages.
Kyla Cain and 16-year-old Efa Holdsworth came on to give Felin fresh legs to see out the match.
A tremendous result for Felinheli, who won 2-1 at Llandudno seven days earlier to secure their first league points of the campaign.
Llio Emyr, in charge of the side in the absence of Aaron Jones-Evans, said: “Very pleased with the performance today. The girls showed great grit, determination and togetherness and this is the type of performance we have been building towards.”

Llandudno 3 Berriew 1

Sub Maddie Williams struck twice in the second half to seal Llandudno a third straight win in Group 3.
Tudno had fallen behind in the opening 45, but equalised just before the break before completing the job after the restart.
Williams, Llandudno’s record scorer since they entered the Adran North in 2021-22 with 78 goals in 97 appearances, came on after 52 minutes and produced the familiar magic she has concocted so many times in the past.
Berriew, newly-promoted to Tier 2 this season and who have shown promise in their early displays, took a 21st minute lead through Hester North.
In first half injury time, Olivia Rigby levelled for the hosts from an Angharad Jones assist.
Williams replaced Rigby early in the second half and turned the game.
The 29-year-old made it 2-1 in the 67th minute, captain Erin Doran assisting, and the same combination saw Williams score again on 80.
