JD CYMRU NORTH

CPD Y Rhyl 1879 0
Mold Alexandra 3 (Cordiner pen 8, 23 & 45+2)

As the song goes, THREE certainly appears to be the magic number for Mold Alexandra.

After Friday night’s win at Rhyl brought them THREE welcome points, their league record now stands at THREE wins, THREE draws and THREE defeats.

Not only that, their victory at the Hops and Barley Community Stadium came by THREE goals to nil and their man of the match Owen Cordiner scored all the goals. Yes, you’ve guessed it…..THREE of them.

Oh, and guess how many times the Alyn Park outfit have now won away in the Cymru North this season? Yes, THREE.

This was surely the Alex’s best result of the campaign so far against a Rhyl side now without a league win in their last five attempts.

The all-blues took an eighth-minute lead when they were awarded a penalty and Cordiner netted from the spot.

A second away goal arrived on 23 minutes when Ryan Coney set up Cordiner for his second.

In first half added time, a nightmare opening stanza for 1879 was made complete when Cordiner completed his treble from a James Davies assist.

Cordiner, 24, who is in his second season with the Alex, has now scored 22 goals in 47 appearances for the club, having previously been a prolific marksman for Corwen.

No further goals in the second half and a night to forget for the Lilywhites.

Newtown 4 Brickfield Rangers 1

Despite taking a first half lead, it all went wrong after the 40-minute mark for Brickfield.

Things looked promising for Gareth Wilson’s side when they edged in front after 16 minutes, Josh Watkin setting up Kiran Russell to find the net.

Rangers were close to going in at half time one-up, but in the 42nd minute a Ryan Williams own goal put the Robins back on level terms.

Six minutes into the second half, Jamie Hyne made it 2-1 to the hosts and Devon Torry added another on 62. Assists for the second and third goals both came from Tomas Jones.

A Jack Edwards own goal after 88 compounded Brickfield’s misery.

NORTH WALES COAST EAST PREMIER DIVISION

Conwy Borough Swifts 5 Llandudno Junction 1

Great win for Swifts who rose to fourth after thrashing second-place Junction in Friday’s derby at Y Morfa.

Jacob Guy was the star of the first half for Conwy, scoring after 17 and 22 minutes.

Things got much worse for the Railwaymen when Sol Pita made ir 3-0 after 32, then the visitors had Lloyd McElroy red-carded on 43.

Jamie Moorhouse pulled one back after 56 to briefly revive Junction hopes, but Ethan Hill struck a fourth for the hosts on 65 and Frank Montgomery notched a fifth with 83 on the clock.

FAW NATIONAL RESERVE LEAGUE NORTH

Denbigh Town Reserves 1 Connah’s Quay Nomads U18s 6

Nomads hit top spot after slamming six past their hosts at Central Park.

Jack Fagan was the away side’s star turn with a hat-trick, Freddie Naylor, Thomas Malcolm and Harry Connolly also on the mark for the visitors, with Sait Kanli a recent signing from NFA, bagging a consolation for Denbigh.
