Three days after a disappointing 2-0 home defeat against Prestatyn Town, on this date 10 years ago Holywell bounced back in style with a seven-goal bonanza at Alyn Park.

Star of the show for the Wellmen was four-goal hero Steve Lewis.

Backed by a large support, the visitors took the lead as early as the 7th minute. A great ball into the box by Steve Thomas for Connor Littler to chase saw him control well and slide it past Christopher Leigh in the Mold.

Town went two-up in the 13th minute through Brett Cotton. Josh Roberts sent over a great corner, Dafydd Griffith at the far post headed back across the face of goal where Cotton was on hand to knock the ball over the line.

Mold were then reduced to 10 men as John Macauliffe was sent off for a high challenge on Lewis but shortly afterwards, the home side reduced the arrears as Jack Laird broke clear down the right, cut inside and shot beyond Mike Platt to make it 2-1.

The next 9 minutes belonged to Steve Lewis, as he notched a hat trick to put the Wellmen well in control of the game.

The first goal came on 27 minutes, Josh Roberts with a long ball to Lewis, who gathered and rounded the keeper to tap home.

On 31, a ball over the top again by Roberts saw Lewis spot the oncoming keeper off his line and cheekily lob Leigh to make it 4-1.

Lewis completed his hat trick on 36, Ryan Davidson and Littler combining to set the striker up.

Ten minutes into the second half, Lewis bagged his fourth.

Steve Thomas fed a great ball through for Lewis to pursue and fire past the oncoming Leigh to make it 6-1.

Town’s supporters were in good voice, singing and chanting at every opportunity, even calling for manager ohn Haseldin to put himself on the pitch but by then, three subs had already been used.

Mold did pull one back on the stroke of the 90 minutes, as Gerrard Mullen beat the offside trap to score.

Not to be outdone, Town added a seventh deep into injury time through Danny Drazdauskas from a tight angle, Lewis this time with the assist.
