JD CYMRU NORTH – OCTOBER 3-4

Airbus UK Broughton 0 Holywell Town 0

Both sides began the night unbeaten in the league – and ended it the same way.
There was no penetrating either defence at a windy Hollingsworth Group Stadium on Friday evening.
Airbus failed to score in a home league game for the first time since being held by Gresford Athletic on Boxing Day 2023.
The Wingmakers had netted at least once in 25 successive Cymru North encounters at the HGS since then – a tribute to how well Holywell performed to stop them scoring in the latest tussle.
Airbus remain top of the table, having lost just once in their last 19 league fixtures – a 2-1 defeat at Hiolywell in January 2025.

Last season, however, in the reverse fixture the Wellmen had crashed 8-3 at Airbus, so Friday’s battle was considerably closer.
Airbus had plenty of efforts on goal, but either their shooting was awry or Town keeper John Danby was in fine form, denying Jordan Evans and Danny Warren in particular.
Goal machine Warren had a chance late on to win it when clean through but blazed over.
Airbus keeper Keighan Jones produced good stops to thwart Jamie Breese and Ryan Edwards, who hit another effort inches wide.
Overall, the only winner on the night was the weather.

Buckley Town 3 Newtown 0

Brad Knight (9) scores for Buckley. Picture: TREVOR JONES

A superb result and performance from Buckley to beat one of the teams expected to be vying for the title this season.
Asa Hamilton’s side led 1-0 at the break, Brad Knight providing the goal from a Max Moore assist.
The score was doubled on the hour when Luke Mariette fired home a great effort from the edge of the box.
And the points were sealed when Connor Littler’s pass released Moore to score for the third successive game in the 82nd minute.
The result lifts Bucks up to sixth in the table and they are now undefeated in six matches.

Denbigh Town 2 CPD Y Rhyl 1879 1

A match which Rhyl 1879 led and dominated for a long spell was turned on its head when unstoppable Nathan Brown bagged a late double to grab the spoils for Denbigh, who sit handily in fifth place.
The best of the early chances came when Gwion Dafydd’s low effort from range was spilled by Alex Swindell before the Rhyl keeper gathered the loose ball.
Soon after, Denbigh’s Nathan Doforo was slipped through by Alfie Vaughan but was denied one on one.
Just before the quarter hour Rhyl had their first chance when Archie Jones’ cross found Jack Parry but he lifted the ball over the bar.
Close to the break, home keeper Elijah Beattie got down well to foil the visitors from close range.
Rhyl bossed the first 25 minutes of the second half.
Beattie’s poor clearance was picked up by Jones who lobbed him from range only to see his effort strike the post.
Moments later 1879 found the woodwork again when Morgan Murray tried his luck from range and smashed the crossbar. Jones’ shot was then tipped on to the bar by Beattie.
Finally, after waves of pressure, Rhyl took the lead on 66 minutes with a small slice of luck. Jones did well to direct the ball on goal from a cross which struck the underside of the bar and bounced back into the net via Beattie for an own goal.
The game almost looked over with 20 left when the Lilywhites were awarded a penalty for a challenge on Jones. Captain Reece Fairhurst stepped up but lashed ver the bar from 12-yards.
Just three minutes later Denbigh capitalised on their good fortune by restoring parity. Sam Duffy squared the ball to Brown, whose long range missile dropped right over the keeper to make it 1-1.
Town now had some momentum and in the 82nd minute Doforo made an excellent run down the left before finding Brown on the edge of the box. Brown drilled into the bottom left corner for his 10th goal of the campaign.
Quite a way to win a game.

Caersws 2 Flint Mountain 2

Owen Cassidy’s 89th minute equaliser earned a useful point for Mountain.
Caersws led twice through Harry Cottam on four minutes and Dillon Browne after 69, but Kieran Owens hit back for the visitors with 63 gone before that late Cassidy leveller.
Thomas Edwards was red-carded for Caersws on 85 minutes.

Ruthin Town 1 Guilsfield 1

Ruthin needed a Dan Cox leveller in the 86th minute to salvage a welcome point at home to Guilsfield.
Guils had taken the lead on 55 minutes through Sam Flory, but with time running short Joshua Evans set up Cox to make it one-apiece.
