Last weekend Briton Ferry’s women led Wrexham 2-0 at The Renewable Centre Stadium, conceded a goal just before the interval, and ended up 5-2 losers in the second half.
And lightning struck twice in an unwanted way for the South Wales club on Saturday, when exactly the same occurrances saw the men thrashed by an identical score at the hands of Cymru Premier leaders Caernarfon.
The Canaries celebrated a great victory which keeps them three points clear at the summit, unbeaten in seven league games, and nine in all competitions, since the start of the season.
Having won 3-0 at The New Saints on matchday 1, and with just one league loss on their slate, Ferry had reason to feel confident they could upset the leaders on Saturday.
They certainly started well, Corey Hurford cutting in from the left and lashing a beautiful strike into the top corner after just five minutes.
It got better for the hosts on 19 minutes when Hurford’s penetrative run into the box was halted by a brave block from keeper Hari Thomas, but Tom Price was following up to score.
However, the Cofis were back in the game three minutes before the break when Matty Jones drilled home a sweet strike from 20 yards.
The second half saw Richard Davies’ side turn on the style.
In the 50th minute they were back on terms, Adam Davies heading home at the near post from a Sion Bradley corner.
Will Fuller produced stunning close range saves to deny Iwan Lewis and Bradley before the turnaround was complete on 66 minutes when Caernarfon made it 3-2.
Bradley delivered another flag-kick from the left, and this time Davies was at the back stick to volley home his eighth goal of the campaign.
It was soon 4-2. Bradley ran at the defence and saw his low shot kept out by Fuller, but Dom Smith was on hand to convert the rebound.
And Bradley was involved in a goal for the fourth time when his neat pass in midfield enabled Josh Lock to race clear into the box and finish smartly for 5-2 in the 75th minute.
Jordan Davies struck twice as Colwyn Bay made it back-to-back wins with a really impressive result against Euro qualifiers Haverfordwest at the Blue Turtle Stadium.
The deadlock was broken on nine minutes when a lovely left-foot cross from the right by Sam Hart was smartly glanced in by the head of Louis Robles.
The lead was doubled on the half-hour when County defender Dylan Rees air-shotted at a ball from the back which reached Robles, who crossed into the centre of the box and Davies steadied himself before finishing calmly.
County were reduced to 10 men on 34 minutes when Alaric Davies was red-carded for a dreadful challenge on Uniss Kargbo.
It was 3-0 after 38 when Davies fed Robles whose shot was kept out by Luc Rees, but Davies followed up to complete his brace.
Bay could have increased their lead in the second half, Robles’ downward header forcing a phenomenal reaction save from Rees.
Haverfordwest’s misery was compounded on 90 minutes when Ben Fawcett received two yellows, one for a foul followed by another for kicking the ball away.
