The northern section draw for the last 64 of the Dragon Signs FAW Amateur Trophy has thrown up a repeat of the 2016-17 semi-final.

Llangefni Town of Tier 3 Ardal North West have landed a home tie against Tier 4 Chirk AAA of the North East Wales League Premier Division in the next round on the weekend of October 3-5.

Back in 2017, Chirk defeated Cefni 1-0 in the semis at neutral Rhyl, a 42nd minute goal from Matty Roberts separating the sides at the end of 90 tight minutes.

The Colliers went on to win the final, beating Penlan Club of Swansea 2-1 at Park Avenue, Aberystwyth.
Can Llangefni get revenge next month?

Giant-killers Llandudno Amateurs of Tier 4, who knocked out unbeaten Ardal North East side Knighton Town last weekend have secured a home meeting with another ANE side Dolgellau Athletic.

Another team to cause an upset in the last round, conquerers of T3 Mynydd Isa, CPD Llanberis. have pulled out a plum tie at home to Ardal North West leaders CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876. Should attract a big crowd to Ffordd Padarn.

CPD Llanuwchllyn will be out to turn the tables when they host a Llanrwst United outfit which eliminated them from the Welsh Cup in July via a 2-0 away margin at the same ground where they will tussle in the Trophy.

Past Trophy winners Cefn Albion will welcome fellow Tier 3 side CPD Y Felinheli, while one cannot count out the prospect of Tier 4 hopefuls Four Crosses and CPD Penrhyndeudraeth overcoming the challenges of Connah’s Quay Town and Llanfair United respectively, both underdogs away from home.

Wednesday’s northern section draw included 26 teams. The other 38 remaining clubs featured in the southern draw.
