FAW Amateur Trophy: Reports from round one and news on draw for next stage

Tune in this Thursday, September 11, for the draw for the second round of the Dragon Signs FAW Amateur Trophy.

Catch the excitement and anticipation from 8 pm on the FAW website’s Red Wall + facility. (The FAW originally published the draw would be Wednesday, September 10 but today changed it, so we have followed suit).

In the meantime, here are the reports from round one.

Dragon Signs Amateur Trophy round one northern

CPD Dinas Bangor City 1876 11 Broughton United 0

Sam Jones was a four-goal star as 1876 hit double figures for the third time this season, but the first at Bangor City Stadium.
Jones boosted his total for the campaign to nine with a ruthless display of finishing, Josh Carey (2), Dylan Summers-Jones (2), Jack Smith, Corrig McGonigle and Cai Owen also featuring on the scoresheet.

Berriew 0 Trearddur Bay 2

Anthony Marshall notched the goals on 10 and 42 minutes that sent Trearddur into the next round at Berriew’s expense.
Morgan Rowlands provided assists for both of Marshall’s strikes.

Bethesda Athletic 6 Rhos United 0

Joe Todd grabbed his first hat-trick for Bethesda in four seasons as the Tier 3 hosts swept aside Rhos at Parc Meurig on Friday evening.
Sion Bullock, Tomos Hughes and Daniel Hughes added a goal apiece for the hosts.

Bow Street 3 Rhostyllen 0

This all-Ardal North East clash saw Harvey Matthews, Steff Davies and Tom Williams deliver the goals that mattered for Bow Street, who led just 1-0 until the 79th minute.

Castell Alun Colts 0 CPD Llannefydd 5

Four second half goals guided Tier 3 Llannefydd to a comfortable victory.
Elgan Roberts, Llion Morris, a Reece Jones OG, Dafydd Roberts and Morgan Jones made up the five.

Cemaes Bay 3 Kinmel Bay 4

Ten-man Kinmel Bay edged a thriller at School Lane.
Sean Sheridan, Connor Morris, Matty Rees and Charlie Jones were on target for the North Wales Coast East Premier Division visitors, who had Sheridan red-carded at the end of the opening half.
Asa Thomas (2 pens) and Tom Wood replied for Cemaes. This match was reported on in full by Grassroots North Wales on Sunday.

Cefn Albion 2 Llandudno Junction 0

A Stephen Bibby own goal on 46 minutes and a Thomas Broadhurst net-finder after 51 ensured Cefn progressed with a fine win over an experienced Junction outfit.

Chirk AAA 2 Penyffordd Lions 0

Friday night’s tussle at Holyhead Road saw Niall Freeman and Liam Sklenar on target for a Chirk side worthy of its place in round two.

Connah’s Quay Town 3 Llanfairfechan Town 2

Goals from Pascal Gomez, Jonny Taylor and Harris Thomas were enough to make sure Tier 3 Town advanced with a narrow win over Tier 4 opponents.

Conwy Borough Swifts 2 Talysarn Celts 1

Sam Maddock’s double was sufficient to book Conwy’s berth in the next stage, the home side achieving victory despite playing with 10 men for the entire second half after Sam Jones’ red card.
Jac Pearce Jones responded for the visitors via an 82nd minute penalty.

CPD Deiniolen 4 CPD Cerrigydrudion 4 (Cerrig won 5-4 on penalties)

Great effort from Tier 5 Deiniolen who led 2-1 and 4-3 before eventually bowing out on penalties to higher-level Cerrig.
Arwyn Price, Dafydd Jones, Connor Roberts (pen) and Sion Foulkes were the home marksmen, Tirion Griffiths (2), Llion Thomas and Rhidian Edwards for Cerrig.

Dolgellau 5 Nantlle Vale 1

Wil Gruffydd (2), Osian Morris, Dennis Bates and sub Peter Young split the goals for the hosts, Aaron Griffiths with Vale’s sole reply.
The visitors were already 5-1 down when they had Griffiths sent off for a second yellow after 84 and Mathew Davies red-carded on 88.

Greenfield 1 CPD Y Felinheli 2

Felinheli’s all-time record goalscorer Gruff John bagged a 95th minute winner for the visitors at the Bernie Williams Memorial Ground.
It was the 34-year-old’s 243rd goal for the Cae Seilo club after he came on as a 64th minute substitute.
Byron Davis was credited with Felin’s first goal on 47 minutes, Dean Hyland levelling for the Tier 4 hosts after 54.

Knighton Town 3 Llandudno Amateurs 3 (Amateurs won 4-2 on pens)

Giant-killing at Bryn-y-Castell as Tier 4 Llandudno Amateurs prevailed on penalties against unbeaten Ardal North East side Knighton.
Declan Beddoes scored a hat-trick for the hosts, Azz Rogers (2) and Billy Bibby replying for the visitors whose keeper Kyle King made two crucial saves in the shoot-out. Fuller report appears elsewhere on Grassroots North Wales.

Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochnant 0 Prestatyn Town 3

Rob Hughes, Adam Hold and a late Jake Walker penalty put the visitors into the hat for round two.

CPD Llanberis 2 Mynydd Isa 1

Tier 4 beat Tier 3 as Llanberis edged past Mynydd Isa at Ffordd Padarn.
Kurt Hellfeld was the Darans hero after plundering a 95th minute decider from a Dion Owen assist.
Guto Jones put the hosts in front after 70, but Nathan Mendoza’s 83rd minute leveller looked to have taken the tie to spot-kicks before Hellfeld determined otherwise.

Llanfairpwll 0 Llangefni Town 3

Tier 5 hosts Llanfairpwll put up a tremendous battle against unbeaten Ardal North West giants Llangefni before eventually going down 3-0.
Dion Jones’ 16th minute strike gave Cefni a half time lead, then Ifan Mansoor and Cameron Jones put the visitors in the clear by the midway point of the second period.

Llanfair United 4 Amlwch Town 0

Jack Jones (2), Owain James and Nyasha Mwamuka sealed Llanfair the honours over underdogs Amlwch, who had Josh Griffiths red-carded on 80 minutes.

Llansantffraid Village 1 Menai Bridge Tigers 3

Ken Kaninda put hosts Llansantffraid into a sixth-minute lead before Tigers turned the tables with goals from Kian Hughes (66 mins), John Littlemore (72) and a 79th minute penalty from Jamie McDaid.

Mochdre Sports 2 Four Crosses 2 (Crosses won 5-3 on pens)

Heartbreak for Mochdre as they exited the Trophy on penalties against the visitors from Foxen Manor.
The tie itself saw Sports recover from two-down to force pens, Lewis Birch and Archie Burton putting the Central Wales side in command before Joshua Grimshaw (pen) and Leon Hender brought the North Wales Coast East Premier outfit level by the 82nd minute mark.

CPD Nefyn United 1 CPD Llanuwchllyn 2

Having stunned Porthmadog in the previous round, Nefyn were unable to repeat the feat as they went out narrowly to Tier 3 high-flyers Llanuwchllyn.
Joe Vaughan and Dale Davies’ 86th minute clincher saw Sion Tudor’s side through, Ifan Gwilym Jones havong put the Penwaig back on terms after 65.

Penmaenmawr Phoenix 2 Waterloo Rovers 1

Charlie Urquhart delivered a welcome winner for Phoenix six minutes into added time at Cae Sling.
A Michael Jones own goal on the hour had edged Pen in front before Owain Richards made it one-apiece after 72.

CPD Penrhyndeudraeth 1 CPD Pwllheli 0

Cian Pritchard’s seventh goal of the season on 78 minutes was enough to secure Tier 4 North Wales Coast West Premier side Penrhyndeudraeth a notable victory over T3 Pwllheli of Ardal North West.

CPD Pentrraeth 1 CPD Rhos Aelwyd 5

Scott Reeves (3, 1 pen) and a Luke Williams double banked an emphatic cup success for Tier 3 favourites Rhos Aelwyd at Bryniau, Sion Jones with a late consolation for the Tier 5 hosts.

Prestatyn Sports 0 NFA 9

Star performer of the day was Tyler Joyce who hit five goals for NFA in an away thrashing of hosts Sports.
Oliver Hansen added a hat-trick, including a penalty, while sub Sion Williams netted once.
Aidan Bell missed a penalty for the outclassed home side.

St Asaph City 1 Llanrwst United 3

Fine result on the road for the Rwsters with Callum Parry delivering a double and Conor Davies making sure with a third late on.
Luke O’Mahoney struck for Saints on 47 to keep his team in the contest, but the visitors were deserved victors in an all-Tier 3 affair.

CPD Y Glannau 1 CPD Boded 2

Boded’s long journey ended in joy as goals from Dylan Griffith and Ry Lees saw them progress at fellow Tier 4 side Y Glannau, who responded through sub Chris McQuillen.
