Hawarden Rangers Vets are national champions!

The all-conquering Flintshire side beat Llanelli Town 4-2 in the inaugural North v South Veterans Cup Final at Latham Park, Newtown.

The ever-dynamic Alan Dawson netted a hat-trick for the pride of North Wales, scoring on 32, 72 and 84 minutes, while Lee King-Magee struck Rangers’ other goal after 39.

Nick Henderson and Ant Williams shared the assists.

Kevin Bartley and James Evans replied for Llanelli.

Goalkeeper Ryan Roberts played a huge part in Hawarden’s success, making some magnificent saves.

This latest achievement is the pinnacle of a long list of honours won by Hawarden Rangers Vets in recent seasons.

  • Last season they were North East Wales League Veterans Premier Division champions, making it four league titles in a row.
  • In 2023-24, they landed the treble of North East Wales League Veterans Premier Division champions, plus NEWFA Veterans Cup and North East Wales League Veterans Cup.
  • Rangers scooped the double of North East Wales League Veterans Division champions and NEWFA Veterans Cup winners in 2022-23.
  • And in 2021-22, they were North East Wales Football League Vets Championship Division winners and lifted the NEWFA Veterans Cup.
