NORTH WALES FOOTBALL REPORTS – WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 28

NORTH WALES COAST EAST LEAGUE

Division One

Penrhyn Bay 6 Crozzy 1

Unbeaten Penrhyn Bay delivered a six-goal show at The Oval on Wednesday night.
After Saturday’s win at Henllan, Bay were keen to build momentum, but knew that new boys Crozzy would be physical and make it a tough encounter.
Penrhyn started strongly, keeping the visitors penned in. Unfortunately, an early blow came when Rich Beardmore picked up an injury inside 10 minutes. Ruben De Greve came on for his debut, and the back four reshuffled.
Both sides tested each other in the opening stages but Bay found the breakthrough through a trademark Tom Cotterell long throw. His delivery picked out Ben Kelbrick who looped a fine header over the Crozzy keeper to open the scoring.
Confidence grew from there, highlighted by a cheeky rainbow flick from Gabe George, and the hosts began to play with freedom. Quick combinations, forward runs and clever play created chances.
Stan Farrell linked up with Cotterell who twisted his defender brilliantly before slotting calmly past the keeper.
Farrell turned provider again soon after, this time setting up Sol Dickens, who ran at goal and showed great composure to finish.
Crozzy pulled one back just before the break through Mike Chapman, countering from a home corner and finishing well.
The second half started evenly with both sides threatening. Elliott Hughes-Whittaker produced a superb stretching save to deny Crozzy a second.

Bay restored control with a fourth goal, this time from Ben Williams, who scored directly from a corner. Williams soon delivered another flag-kick which caused chaos in the box before Dickens pounced to rifle home his second of the night.
To cap things off, George was brought down inside the box and stepped up to slot the resulting penalty, sealing a 6-1 win.
A brilliant all-round team performance with plenty of positives to build on. Credit to Crozzy, they battled hard and as a new side they’ll only improve with time.

Prestatyn Wanderers 1 Llandyrnog United 2

Four wins out of four for leaders Llandyrnog, who were made to work hard for their latest victory.
Wanderers created the better first half chances, their very direct approach using long balls, long throw-ins and corners helping their cause.
However, Dyrny took the lead on 31 minutes, captain Dan Porter with the corner which Rob Hurst stretched out for and finished off at the back post.
The second half was pretty much the same, both teams having to go direct as the surface wasn’t one that lends itself to football being played along the floor.
Both sets of defenders were made to work hard, producing endless clearances.
Wanderers deservedly levelled on 80 minutes. From a throw in down their left, Adam Cassidy reacted fastest in the box and put it past the keeper.
The final 10 minutes were all Llandyrnog, attack after attack. Alfie Harrison with some good play on the wing, found Rob Swift who drilled across the goal from the left and found the bottom corner.
Wanderers keeper Gareth Hastie made a few decent saves late on to keep it 2-1 .
The hosts could consider themselves unlucky not to come away with a point.

CPD Henllan 1 Prestatyn Sports 6

Aidan Bell was a hat-trick hero for the third-placed visitors.
Sports started brightly and were one-up after a Ste Falvey through ball to Bell, who found the bottom corner.
Billy Wilde equalised from the penalty spot for Henllan to make it 1-1 after 17 minutes.
Three minutes later Bell delivered the ball into the back post where Hayden Kivell headed into the top corner.
Sports were playing some great football and benefited when Falvey again found Bell, who made it 3-1 at half time from close range.
The visitors maintained the momentum into the second half, Ashley Castle’s hard work enabling him to pinch the ball back and lay it on for Bell to lash home from 30 yards in off the crossbar and complete his treble.
Dylan Taylor’s cross teed up Georgy Szabo to make it 5-1
The goal of the game came from 16 year old Lewis Eyre Williams who smashed the ball from 35 yards out straight past the keeper.

Rhuddlan Town 6 CPD Blue Bridge 1

Liam Bowers made it back-to-back hat-tricks and 10 goals since the start of the season in a commanding performance from Rhuddlan.
Andy Booker added a double and Riley Patterson a single for the home side, captain Kyle Lally replying for the Rhyl-based visitors.

NORTH WALES COAST WEST LEAGUE

Premier Division

Gwalchmai 6 Glantraeth 2

Liam Willighan was a hat-trick star as Gwalchmai celebrated their first league win of the season.
Alan Mark Owen, Darren Lewthwaite and sub Wesley Jones added a goal each for the Anglesey hosts. Lewthwaite was sent off for a second yellow on 63.
Danny Camilleri and Daniel Rylance replied for the bottom side, who have lost five on the bounce and conceded 53 goals.
