Looking at this tie before the start, it was ripe for a home win.

Tier 4 Kinmel Bay had won all four matches this season, scoring 22 goals and conceding just two, while Llangollen of Tier 3 had lost five in a row and sat bottom of Ardal North East with only a single point to their name.

Nonetheless, the hosts were playing a team operating at a higher level and from that viewpoint Bay’s 3-0 victory ranks as an upset.

Hero for the Morfa side was striker Connor Morris, who reached 100 goals for the club last weekend, and banged in a hat-trick on Saturday to get a flying start towards his next ton.

After a goalless first half, Leon Field, Andy Thomas and Alex Craig’s men took a 52nd minute lead when Ben Cawley provided the assist for Morris to score his first.

Morris made it 2-0 after 65 minutes with a penalty and completed his treble after 71, Cawley again supplying the assist.

Llangollen’s misery was complete when Ben Lloyd was red-carded three minutes from time.

Penmaenmawr Phoenix 2 CPD Nefyn United 3

One of Tier 4’s best sides, Nefyn, travelled to third-tier Penmaenmawr and came away with a ticket to the next round.

The North Wales Coast West Premier Division visitors were on fire from the off, scoring three times in the first 15 minutes.

Tomi Evans netted the first two, Jac Williams and Gethin Trenholme with the assists, then Evans turned provider for Rhys Williams to make it three

Ardal North West early strugglers Phoenix could only get better in the second half and sure enough they made a match of it.

William Owen-Ford pulled a goal back on 57 and when Cody Williams made it 3-2 with 82 gone, there was still hope of a turnaround for the hosts.

However, Nefyn held on for their third win over Tier 3 opponents already this season, having previously beaten Mynydd Isa in the Welsh Cup and mighty Porthmadog in the FAW Trophy.

Forden United 0 Llanrwst United 0 (Forden won 3-2 on pens)

Disappointment for Tier 3 Ardal North West side Llanrwst as they exited the Welsh Cup at Tier 4 Forden of the MMP Central Wales League North.

The tie stood at 0-0 at the end of 90 minutes, so it went straight to penalties and the hosts prevailed 3-2.

Man of the match Henry O’Donnell, goalkeeper Adam Clewlow and Harvey Gill put away the kicks that mattered for the Welshpool-area hosts.
