JD CYMRU PREMIER REPORTS – FRIDAY, AUGUST 22

Flint Town United 2 Caernarfon Town 5

Have Caernarfon Town ever scored four such brilliant goals in one game?

The on-fire Cofis lead the Cymru Premier after last night’s victory at the Essity Stadium brought an abrupt end to Flint’s run of eight straight home league wins.

Not all the ace goals came from Town, though.

The Silkmen took a fourth-minute lead when a Michael Burke cross from the left was punched clear by keeper Connor Roberts, but Jake Canavan worked the ball onto his left-foot and scored with an absolute screamer.

Morgan Owen’s long throws into the box were a major weapon for Town and one of them resulted in a seventh-minute equaliser. Owen’s delivery from the right was flicked off a Flint head and Paulo Mendes nodded home from close range.

After 31 minutes it was 2-1 to the visitors. Another Owen throw into the six-yard area was not dealt with by the home defence and Zack Clarke lashed home clinically from an angle.

Flint levelled on 37 with a beautifully-worked goal from the back.

Flint captain Harry Owen battles for the ball

Jake Phillips, Ben Woollam and Josh Jones all combined for Elliott Reeves to wallop home from six yards.

Only a great low save from Roberts denied Reeves putting Lee Fowler’s men in front at the break.

The second half saw Caernarfon take command with some truly amazing goals.

An Owen long throw was cleared to the edge of the box where Iwan Lewis blasted a stunning strike past keeper Jack Flint with 52 on the clock.

Sion Bradley, back at Caernarfon on loan from The New Saints, came on in the 67th minute and soon showed what he is capable of when he turned from an Owen cross and shot goalwards, but Flint was equal to the effort.

Town went 4-2 up on 75 minutes with another cracker.

Adam Davies (red and black) puts in a strong challenge for Caernarfon

Sam Downey and Adam Davies combined for Mendes to send an unstoppable shot from 20 yards into the top corner for his second of the night.

Three minutes later, Owen’s ball into the box was only cleared to Davies, who curled home another absolute pearler.

At the other end, Roberts smothered well from Darren Stephenson before Darren Thomas brought out the best from Jack Flint with a fierce left-pegger.

Bala Town 1 Colwyn Bay 0

On a night of remarkable goals in the Cymru Premier, one of the best from Bala’s Dominic McGiveron earned his team three points at Maes Tegid.

Visitors Bay threatened first when a firm Sol Forde header from a Sam Hart free kick was well held by Lakesiders keeper Joel Torrance.

McGiveron broke the deadlock on 11 minutes when a pass from the left found him in space and the midfielder’s 25-yard missile flew into the net via the post.

Louis Robles was in on goal for the Seagulls before half time, but Torrence got down really well to save.

Torrence continued to defy the visitors in the second half, making a double stop to thwart Jordan Davies and Aron Williams following a corner.

Louis Hall should have made it 2-0 when Jacob Tarasenko set him up, but his point-blank effort was blocked by keeper Rhys Williams and rebounded off the Town player over the bar.

Nathan Peate had a chance to equalise late on when he swivelled from close range, but his rocket on the turn flew wide.
