Unbeaten Rhyl 1879 continued their impressive adjustment to football at a higher level with a best performance yet on Saturday.
For a second time already this season, Caersws finished up losers at the Hops and Barley Community Stadium.
The Bluebirds went down 2-1 to the Lilywhites in the Nathaniel MG Cup last month, while at the weekend Cymru North points were at stake.
Despite it being a scorching afternoon, the opening quarter was played at a frantic pace.
Caersws enjoyed the early control, though without creating any real threat to the Rhyl goal.
Then, against the run of play, the Lilywhites fashioned the game’s first clear-cut chance. A Ben Lawrence corner found Archie Jones, whose header was cleared off the line, before Paul Fleming went close with the follow-up.
Rhyl grew stronger as the half went on, Morgan Murray and Archie Jones combining well to create another opening for Fleming, who fired over.
The breakthrough came in the 37th minute. Archie Jones drove powerfully into the box, rounding keeper Max Williams before being brought down – penalty!
Up stepped captain Reece Fairhurst to blast home an unstoppable spot-kick to give Rhyl a deserved 1–0 lead.
Before the interval, Jack Parry almost doubled the advantage, dragging his shot just wide.
The Bluebirds missed a good opportunity early in the second half and Rhyl made them pay.
On the hour, Murray raced down the right before delivering a delightful cross for Archie Jones to power a header into the top corner.
Substitute Lewis Holden made a superb impact and late on he fed in Ben Lightfoot, who calmly slotted in number three.
After the game, 1879 manager Paul Moore said: “A game we had to grow into and work hard to gain control. The quality at times gave us plenty of positives, and in the end a great result.”
CPD Y Rhyl 1879: Oliver Farebrother, Ben Lawrence, Brady Coldwell, Leo Latter, Reece Fairhurst, Rocco Hewitt, Ben Lightfoot, Paul Fleming, Morgan Murray, Jack Parry, Archie Jones.
Subs: Arthur Hancock, Seb Bolton, Mo Ali, Josh Lawrenson, James Farr, Joe Culshaw, Lewis Hodson.
Ilan Ap Gareth Jones and Fabrizio Murtas scored two goals apiece as Holywell maintained their early 100 percent record by beating Guilsfield at Bartons North Wales Stadium.
The Wellmen earned a 14th minute penalty when Murtas was fouled in the box, but Craig Lindfield’s spot-kick hit the post.
John Danby was forced into a great save to deny Guilsfield’s Samuel Flory before the hosts grabbed a 38th minute lead.
Town won a free kick and Ilan Ap Gareth struck a fantastic effort into the top corner.
Early in the second half, there was a nasty jolt for the home side when James Smallwood equalised for the visitors.
On the hour, however, Holywell were back in front, Murtas brilliantly running through the defence before rounding the keeper and finding the net.
It was end-to-end as Flory rattled the post before Luke Evans foiled Lindfield with a great stop.
Holywell certainly needed a third goal to make sure of the points and it came on 88 minutes through an Ilan Ap Gareth far post header.
And on 90 it was truly all over when Murtas added his second.
Although Llandudno dropped their first points of the season they did maintain their unbeaten record.
The visitors gave a second half debut to striker Dylan Proctor, a recent arrival from CPD Y Rhyl 1879, who looked lively.
Brickfield were reduced to 10 men in the 83rd minute when Jack Edwards was shown a second yellow, but the Wrexham side held on for a deserved point.
An 83rd minute equaliser from Owen Cordiner rescued a point for Mold after recent signing Connor Owen had given Holyhead the lead on 66 with his first Cymru North goal.
A third straight win for Newtown who led 3-0 from a Joe Ly own goal on 20 minutes, a Jamie Hyne strike after 22 and a Louis Jacobs effort with 58 on the clock.
Sub Rian O’Riordan replied for Mountain in the closing stages.
Substitute goalkeeper for Flint was Flynn Proctor, who has just signed from CPD Y Rhyl 1879.
A 38th minute goal from Jordan Evans was enough to bag a third consecutive three-point haul for early leaders Airbus.
