JD CYMRU PREMIER LEAGUE – AUGUST 16, 2025

Caernarfon Town 6 (Adam Davies 38, 49 & 90+3, Zack Clarke pen 45+4, Ryan Sears 47, Connor Evans 69)
Llanelli Town 1 (Sean Cronin 85)

Adam Davies recorded his first hat-trick for a Caernarfon Town side which celebrated its biggest win since returning to the Cymru Premier in 2018-19.

This was perhaps Llanelli’s most painful defeat in North Wales since as reigning champions they crashed 5-1 at title-winners-to-be Rhyl in 2008-09.

Saturday’s clash at the Go Goodwins Stadium, Llandudno, saw Davies test keeper Michael Lewis early with a near post drive before at the other end Connor Roberts got down well to gather Joseph Lloyd’s low strike.

The deadlock was broken in the 38th minute. Paulo Mendes found Morgan Owen, he fed to ball right to Zack Clarke and his precision cross was headed down and beyond Lewis by Davies.

Caernarfon struck a big blow in first half added time. A corner from the right looked to be drifting beyond everyone when Dominic Smith was bundled over in the box.

Referee Richard Wright pointed to the spot and Clarke made no mistake.

Half-time: Caernarfon Town 2 Llanelli Town 0

Connor Evans scored a magnificent goal for the hosts five minutes after coming on as a substitute

Two goals in the opening five minutes of the second half put Richard Davies’ side out of sight.

With 47 gone, Smith played the ball to Iwan Lewis, whose superb cross was headed home clinically by Ryan Sears.

It was soon four when Davies bundled the ball over the line after CPL new boys this season Llanelli failed to deal with a corner.

Captain Daniel Gosset soon rattled the crossbar with a thunderous volley.

Hat-trick hero Adam Davies

Substitute Connor Evans made it 5-0 with 69 gone. Owen lofted the ball upfield to Davies, who showed neat skill before slipping a smart pass to Evans, whose fierce strike gave Lewis absolutely no chance.

Llanelli pulled one back from a corner when Sean Cronin volleyed in a Tristan Jenkins delivery from the left at the rear post.

However, Caernarfon fittingly had the last word when a quick throw-in from Darren Thomas released Davies, who completed his hat-trick with a magnificent left-foot finish from a seemingly impossible angle.

  • Caernarfon Town’s all-time record Welsh Premier victory remains an 8-0 home hammering of Barry Town in 2003-04, the season the wheels well and truly fell off for the reigning champions and seven-time title winners from Jenner Park.
