ECB 1ST XI PREMIER LEAGUE

Colwyn Bay 1st XI (8) 247-9 dec Birkenhead Park 1st XI (8) 198-6 – drawn

Bay had to be satisfied with a home draw against the only team below them in the Premier League.

The hosts were put into bat and posted 247-9 declared off 53.2 overs, Zack Gidlow 54, Luke Russell 44, Sagar Trivedi 34 and Will Higginson 32, Ahmad Safi Abdullah 6-76 for the Wirral visitors.

Park posed no major threat to the Bay total, but managed to lose only six wickets in their innings which finished on 198, Andrew Clarke 79, Dulanjala Mendis 3-47 and Tom Clarke 2-50 for the Bay.

1ST XI SECOND DIVISION

Prescot and Odyssey 1st XI (8) 164-9 Northop Hall 1st XI (8) 213-10

Hall lost the leadership of the Second Division after falling just a wicket short of victory at Burrows Lane.

Invited to bat, the visitors were bowled out for 213, Finley Jenkins 53, Andrew Watkin 47 and James Hurlin 46, John Nation snapping up 7-59 for the hosts.

In reply, Prescot were 67-6 at one stage, but managed to survive 63 overs, finishing on 164-9, Shonak Harsh a vital 91 not out, Carwyn Johnson 3-36, Paul Jenkins 3-56 and Hurlin 2-58.

Prestatyn 1st XI (6) 119-10 Southport Trinity 1st XI (25) 196-10

Bowling hero Adam Tidswell

Adam Tidswell claimed a stunning 8-56 but his team Prestatyn were still well beaten at home to Southport Trinity.

Skipper Tidswell recorded the second best figures of his career, but his finest at home, his top effort being 9-47 at Parkfield Liscard last season.

Navneet Kaimal picked up 2-64 as Trinity, inserted by the opposition, made 196 all out, Scott Francis 68.

Prestatyn were bowled out for just 119, Rohit Kaimal 35, Tony Campbell 4-16 off 11 for the visitors.

2ND XI FIRST DIVISION

Northop Hall 2nd XI (24) 171-8 Old Xaverians 2nd XI (7) 149-10

Bottom team Northop Hall seconds were a happy outfit after claiming just a second win of the season at the expense of visitors Old Xaverians.

Opener Thomas Doggett was the main batting hero with 75 as Hall, put in by the opposition, made 171-8 off 45 overs.

Sion Hellen then grabbed 5-55 and Robbie Edwards 4-40 as the hosts dismissed Xavs for just 149 to seal a 24-7 points success.

Southport Trinity 2nd XI (7) 130-10 Colwyn Bay 2nd XI (25) 180-9 dec

Second-place Bay seconds maintained their promotion charge with a 50-run triumph at The Rookery.

Sam Costley hit 68 and Sam Roberts 51 as the visitors reached 180-9 declared off 41.1 overs, Jonny Firth 5-60 for the hosts.

Josh Grant then snared 5-19 and Shay Williams 4-32 as Southport fell to 130 all out, points 25-7 Bay.

2ND XI SECOND DIVISION

Hightown St Mary’s 2nd XI (20) 96-4 Prestatyn 2nd XI (3) 92-10

Ashley Jones made a superb 64 not out but Prestatyn seconds were dismissed for just 92 and Hightown got home on 96-4, Jones 3-21 off 11 for the visitors.

Not the best of days for Prestatyn, but a superb display by all-rounder Jones.
