NATHANIEL MG CUP ROUND 2 – REPORTS FRIDAY, AUGUST 1

Ruthin Town 0 Connah’s Quay Nomads 9

John Disney’s first competitive match in charge of Nomads proved memorable as his side earned an emphatic 9-0 win over Ruthin in the Nathaniel MG Cup.

Summer signing Eddie Servuts opened the scoring with a close-range finish, before clinical strikes from Harry Franklin and Rhys Hughes capped off an impressive first half.

Nomads continued their relentless approach in the second 45 with Franklin bagging his brace shortly after the restart.

Zeli Ismael also scored a double either side of Declan Poole’s low drive.

An Izaack Lambert own goal and Servuts’ stunning strike from distance rounded off the scoring.

Caernarfon Town 3 Colwyn Bay 0

Goals from Zack Clarke, Adam Davies and substitute Connor Evans led Caernarfon to victory over 10-man Colwyn Bay at Go Goodwins Stadium, Llandudno.

The key moment of the game came on 38 minutes when Bay defender Sol Forde was red carded for a foul in the area and Clarke scored from the spot.

Caernarfon were always on top after that and added further goals late in the game from Davies and Evans to ease into the next round.

Bay rarely troubled Caernarfon keeper Connor Roberts, although he did have to save efforts from a Sam Hart free kick and Louis Robles late in the game.
