NATHANIEL MG CUP FIRST ROUND

Flint Mountain 1 Denbigh Town 3

A completely new-look Flint Mountain took the lead in tonight’s Nathaniel MG Cup tie, but ended up defeated by three goals in the closing 20 minutes from a strong Denbigh outfit.
The hosts nudged ahead in the 44th minute at Bastion Gardens, Prestatyn, ex-Rhyl 1879 striker Jonny Bravo making the breakthrough from an Owen Cassidy assist.
Denbigh made a number of changes at half time, and they went so close to an equaliser when Nathan Brown’s free-kick came back off the post.
Town’s persistence went unrewarded until the 71st minute when Matthew Worrall, on his return to the club, levelled from a Brown assist.
With five minutes left, Dan Flanders set up Ben Lockley to head the visitors in front.
And the win was sealed when sub Tom Weir supplied Brown with the chance to make it 3-1, which Town’s prolific marksman gladly accepted.

Buckley Town 4 Holyhead Hotspur 0

A comfortable first night’s work for a Buckley side facing a Hotspur outfit newly-promoted to the Cymru North this season.
Bradley Knight was the first-half hero for Asa Hamilton’s side, scoring after one and 45 minutes, Max Moore and Scott McHarrie with the assists.
Liam Ellis made it 3-0 on 53 minutes, assisted by Oliver Blayney, who added the fourth himself after 85, McHarrie supplying the chance.

Iwan Matthews and Adam Knott were among the scorers for home winners Guilsfield.

Ruthin Town 0 Penrhyncoch 0
(Ruthin won 4-2 on penalties)

After a goal-less tie at Maes Tegid, Ruthin required penalties to clinch their place in the next round.
Harry Martin, William Cooke, Ethan Davies and Danny Holland all scored from the spot as the home side triumphed 4-2 in the shoot-out.
