Llandudno have landed an interesting tie at home to Newport County in the Nathaniel MG Cup opening round.
English Football League Two club Newport have been granted a wildcard entry for the “Natty” and placed in the northern draw to ‘balance things up’ due to all the other gift entries hailing from South Wales and participating in the southern section.
It is highly unlikely County, who lost 4-2 to competition winners Manchester United in last season’s FA Cup, will field anything like a full strength squad for the trip to Parc Maesdu next month, but the name alone should guarantee a good crowd.
Flint Mountain’s first Nathaniel MG adventure will deliver a home tie against now fellow Cymru North outfit Gresford Athletic.
Another newcomer, Llay Miners Welfare, will host the 2016 finalists Denbigh Town.
Meanwhile in round two, Flint Town United face a trip to holders The New Saints.
The first round of the Nathaniel MG Cup takes place across the weekend of 19-21 July, before the second round takes place across the weekend of 2-4 August.
