New stand will be part of major upgrade at Bangor City Stadium

A new stand is set to be built at Bangor City Stadium as part of a series of exciting new renovation works.

Thanks to private investment of £350,000, extensive upgrades will be made across several key areas of the stadium.

In addition to the recently announced floodlight and PA system upgrades, supported by the FAW, the stadium will benefit from the following improvements:

  • New Safe Standing Terrace: A covered safe standing area will be installed behind the South Side (Menai Bridge end) goal, with the flexibility to accommodate approximately 400 seats for potential UEFA fixtures. It will remain predominantly a safe standing zone to enhance the matchday atmosphere.
  • New Changing Rooms & Refreshment Office: With the UK’s first 4G pitch nearing completion this summer, here at Bangor City Stadium, new changing facilities for players and officials will be built, alongside a dedicated refreshments stall.
  • Tea Hut Renovation: Our pitch-side tea hut is being fully refurbished, with works ongoing on the exterior and interior. inside and out. This includes upgrades both cosmetically and regarding the food menu, improving service and offerings for fans.
  • Farrar Suite Cellar Upgrade: The Farrar Suite has received an upgraded cooling system in its cellar, ensuring improved service and efficiency during events and matchday.
  • Improved Pitch Drainage: Work is being carried out on the pitch’s drainage system to enhance performance during the winter months, ensuring better playing conditions year round.
  • New Grounds Team Storage Facility: A dedicated storage area is being added to support our growing grounds team as they maintain the new pitch and stadium facilities.
  • New Pitch-Side Dugouts: New dugouts will be installed later on in the year to provide improved comfort and professionalism for teams and staff on matchdays.

Bangor City Stadium director Dafydd Evans commented “The board of directors met with the chairman last week and discussed the upgrades and the stadium development plan. It is with great pleasure we can announce a substantial private investment has been made into the stadium which will allow us to continue with the further works as part of our development plan. A new stand behind the south goal has been a request of the fans for some time and we have listened and we will immediately start the construction along with all other upgrades mentioned.”

These developments mark a significant milestone in the ongoing transformation of Bangor City Stadium.

This week ir was also announced a major investment from the Football Association of Wales (FAW) worth approximately £240,000 will upgrade the stadium’s floodlights and PA system.

This funding will see the installation of four new floodlight structures, increasing the stadium’s lighting capacity to 800 LUX, bringing it in line with UEFA standards and greatly enhancing visibility for both players and fans during evening fixtures.

Alongside lighting improvements, the PA system will also be upgraded This state-of-the-art system will elevate the matchday experience and enable us to host a variety of live events with top-quality sound, opening up exciting new opportunities for the stadium and the wider community.

Additionally, the club will be installing UEFA standard goals with dug outs to follow later in the year.

Bangor City Stadium director Lee Dixon said: “This funding is a game changer for us at the stadium, and with us hosting the EURO Under 19s tournament next summer it is vitally important we offer the facilities at the very highest level.

The 800 lux lighting system gives us the opportunity to push onto achieving the category 2 UEFA status and I believe we are one of the first clubs in the Welsh pyramid system to install the 800 lux lighting system, which we are really proud of. We thank the FAW for their support and we look forward to working with them.

As a board of directors we are delighted with these upgrades which gives our City & Community a stadium that they can be truly proud of.”
