News to light up the lives of CPD Y Rhyl 1879 fans!
It will be all light on the night – especially at CPD Y Rhyl 1879’s ground this season!
Within only nine months of stadium ownership, the newly-promoted JD Cymru North club have secured grant funding to upgrade its current old floodlighting system to new energy-efficient LED floodlights.
Club chairman Tom Jamieson said: “This total upgrade will not only improve visibility and safety for all future evening activities, but also dramatically reduce our energy consumption and environmental impact.
“The new LED system promises better performance, lower maintenance and running costs, and a more sustainable future for our facility.
“A big thank you goes to the committee of the FAW Welsh Ground Improvement Scheme and the panel of the Gwynt y Mor Fund for supporting and recognising the impact this important project for our club will have for our local and wider community.
“Work on the upgrade is expected to begin over the coming weeks, and we’ll keep everyone updated as things progress.”

- Last October, CPD Y Rhyl 1879 officially announced it had purchased Belle Vue stadium.
The news brought to a joyous end years of wrangling in an attempt to establish the historic ground as a place to call home.
It proved an historic milestone for a club born as recently as 2020 – a phoenix club successor to the former Rhyl FC, which folded in the same year after 141 years representing the town.
The ground took on the name the Hops and Barley Community Stadium after a sponsorship deal agreed with the company of that name in November 2024.
