Rhydymwyn heading back in the right direction
Ambitious Rhydymwyn FC are delighted to have earned promotion to tier 4 for the 2025-26 season.
The Flintshire village club, once double FAW Trophy winners and tier 2 champions, have been accepted into Division 1 of the new-look North East Wales League for the campaign ahead.
Rhyd finished third in the tier 5 Championship Division last season but met the criteria to move up a notch.
Former champions of the Cymru Alliance and Welsh Alliance, Rhydymwyn resigned from the tier 3 Ardal North West early in the 2022-23 season, but returned in 2023-24 and have spent the last two campaigns at tier 5.
Club chairman Mike Chesters said: “We are absolutely delighted to announce that Rhydymwyn FC has been promoted to Tier 4 – a tremendous achievement that reflects the hard work, passion, and ambition of everyone involved at the club.
“This success comes at an exciting time, as we also welcome a new ground sponsor and a new kit sponsor, strengthening our foundation both on and off the pitch.
“We’re equally thrilled to confirm some big changes behind the scenes, with a refreshed coaching setup and the return of some familiar faces. It’s great to have Anthony Weaver, James Duff and Stuart Tarran back at the club.
“Anthony is a highly sought-after manager, and his decision to join Rhydymwyn FC is a testament to our growing reputation and our clear ambition. His leadership, alongside our fantastic staff and players, ensures that the only direction for this club now is upwards.
