Well done to the 2024-25 Ardal Northern leagues award winners
Heroes from the 2024-25 season were honoured at the Ardal Northern League awards this weekend.

ARDAL NORTH EAST
MANAGER OF THE SEASON – GARETH WILSON (BRICKFIELD RANGERS)
Appointed manager of Brickfield Rangers in July 2020, Gareth became the first man to lead the Wrexham club into the Cymru North in 2024-25.
Brickie’s first team secured the first league title in the club’s 49-year history when they were crowned Ardal North East champions.
A former midfield ace with Rhyl, TNS, Welshpool Town and Prestatyn Town, who he later managed, Wilson played in 472 Welsh Premier League matches, scoring 39 goals.
He also won the FAW Youth Cup with Wrexham, played for Colwyn Bay and represented Wales Under-16s and U18 and British Students.
PLAYER OF THE SEASON – MEILIR WILLIAMS (CPD LLANUWCHLLYN)
Another amazing season for this 28-year-old goal machine who netted 38 times in 29 Ardal North East matches in 2024-25.
In two seasons with Llanuwchllyn, he has pocketed 66 goals in 56 league games and 94 in 81 matches across all competitions.
Meilir landed the Ardal North East Golden Boot in 2024-25 and was second in the highest marksman list the season before.
Formerly with Porthmadog, Conwy Borough, Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs, he also bagged more than 100 goals for Penrhyndeudraeth.
ARDAL NORTH WEST
MANAGER OF THE SEASON – DARREN GARMEY (HOLYHEAD HOTSPUR)
An unforgettable promotion-winning campaign for the 42-year-old Garmey, who has a long association with football in Holyhead.
Garmey was appointed Hotspur manager in May 2018, replacing Campbell Harrison, to whom he had been previously assistant.
In 2019-20, Garmey led Holyhead to the Welsh Alliance League Division One title which was followed by two seasons in the tier 2 Cymru North before dropping into tier 3 Ardal North West at the end of 2022-23.
After two seasons in the ANW, Hotspur are returning to the Cymru North for a second time under Garmey. They finished second in the ANW in 2024-25, then beat Llanuwchllyn in a promotion play-off.
PLAYER OF THE SEASON – ALEX JONES (HOLYHEAD HOTSPUR)
This will be seen as a very fitting reward for the long-serving defender, who retired at the end of the 2024-25 season.
He went out as a winner, captaining Hotspur to a promotion play-off victory to seal a return to Cymru North.
Talisman Jones has given an incredible 25 years service to Hotspur youth and senior football.
His first team history dates as far back as the treble-winning side of 2011-12, which won the Welsh Alliance title, plus the Cookson Cup and Barritt Cup.
Jones lifted the Welsh Alliance championship with the club again in 2019-20.
