Gwalchmai striker’s goals give three-figure boost to niece’s surgery appeal

Gwalchmai striker Marc Evans’ fine end-of-season form has raised £100 for an appeal to help his football-playing niece recover from a serious injury.
In mid-April, Grassroots North Wales pledged £10 for every goal Marc, who is known as Logs, netted for Gwalch until the end of the campaign.
Proceeds were to go to the ACL injury – journey back to football fund set up to cover the cost of knee surgery for Marc’s niece, Llangefni Town goal queen Jess Jones, who has been out of action since February.
Logs scored eight goals in the time our challenge ran, and Grassroots North Wales has rounded up the figure to £100 for Jess’ appeal. He scored 21 goals overall this season as Gwalch finished runners-up in the North Wales Coast League West Premier Division.
Despite not playing for the last three months of this season, Jess, 19, still managed to net 24 goals since the start of 2024-25.

She has scored an amazing 83 times in just 50 appearances for Cefni since 2022-23 and hopes to further her football development in America.
Jess has had her surgery and is recovering steadily, but will sadly miss this summer’s Island Games in Orkney.
Her appeal raised more than £1,400 and Jess wholeheartedly thanks everyone who donated and all who have wished her well.
