Ambitious Tier 3 club Trearddur Bay will be playing at the Bangor City Stadium for the upcoming season.
It means the Ardal North West outfit will compete in the same league as their ‘landlords’ – Bangor 1876 – in 2025-26, the fan-owned club having been relegated from the JD Cymru North this term.
Trearddur Bay relaunched in 2022-23 and won back-to-back league titles to rise from Tier 5 to 3. They finished fourth in Ardal North West this season and reached the FAW Amateur Trophy semi-finals.
The club played most of its home games at Cae Cynlas, Aberffraw, this term while plans and negotiations were ongoing to develop a new ground for Bay on the island.
Although the first team has stopped playing at its original ground Lon Isallt, other sides representing the club have continued to operate there.
As yet, no location for the planned new ground has been revealed.
In a statement this evening, Trearddur Bay said: “With progress now being made on our own new ground, it was essential to secure a suitable temporary home – and we’re delighted to have done just that.
“The facilities and set-up at the stadium are excellent, and we’re excited to take to the pitch there in front of our supporters. A big thank you to Lee (Dixon) and Nick (Pritchard) for their help and cooperation in making this happen.
“We’d also like to express our sincere gratitude to Bryan Owen, Huw Owen and the rest of the committee at Clwb Pel-Droed Aberffraw Football Club for last season.”
Pitch re-laying work was ongoing at Bangor City Stadium today. Next season, Bangor 1876 will be renamed Bangor City 1876.
