Guess who is back in football management at ambitious Trearddur Bay?

One of Ynys Môn’s most respected football figures is the new manager of Trearddur Bay FC.

Campbell Harrison brings with him a tremendous pedigree to an ambitious club currently in Tier 3 but with aspirations of competing at a much higher level.

As a player, defender Harrison represented both Cemaes Bay and Porthmadog in the League of Wales and was in the Ynys Môn football team which won gold at the 1999 Island Games in Gotland, Sweden.

Harrison went on to manage Holyhead Hotspur between 2006-09 and 2013-18. In his first spell, he led the club to its highest ever league position of second in the 2008-09 Cymru Alliance campaign.

After a stint back at Porthmadog as assistant to Gareth Parry, Harrison took over at Tier 2 Hotspur again before departing in 2018.

He established the Holy Islanders as a Huws Gray Alliance force, primarily using players from the area.

In 2019, he managed the Ynys Môn squad which won the one-off Inter-Games football tournament held on Anglesey, the hosts beating Guernsey 2-1 in the final.

This made him the first man to win a gold medal for Anglesey at an international tournament as both a player and manager – the feat 20 years apart.

Headteacher Harrison now takes on a new challenge at Trearddur Bay, who were relaunched as a Tier 5 club in 2022-23, winning the North Wales Coast West Division One title that season and the Premier Division crown the following campaign to seal back-to-back promotions.

Bay finished fourth in their debut 2024-25 season as an Ardal North West club.

One of the main managers at the club this term, Mel McGinness, left to take over at Glantraeth this week.

Harrison is now the new boss of the Beach Boys and will soon announce his assistant and coaching team.

A Trearddur Bay FC statement said of the new manager: “He has a proven track record of developing young talent and is keen to continue that work here at Trearddur Bay, helping nurture the next generation of players from our development squad.

“Campbell will begin working with the squad immediately, aiming to make his mark and shape the team in his vision.”
