Leaders Phoenix maintained their two-point lead at the summit with a hard-earned 2-1 victory at Bastion Gardens.

Pen will lift the Premier title if they win or draw at sole challengers Kinmel Bay in their next game on May 21.

A win for Bay that afternoon would take them top and leave Phoenix needing to get something from their final match at Cerrigydrudion on May 31.

Aaron Keating’s table-toppers were given a big test by battling Bow on Wednesday.

James Hobson edged Pen in front on 38 minutes with his 23rd goal of the campaign via a Mike Williams assist.

In the 58th minute, Mike Williams was the chance supplier again as Harley Crossfield made it 2-0.

Bow had Isaac Carey red-carded just past the hour, but the hosts refused to go under and pulled one back on 67 through a Lewis Williams own goal.

The game then featured a deluge of yellow cards but Phoenix held on for the all-important three points.

CPD Llansannan 0 Kinmel Bay 1

Dominic Holland’s 77th minute strike from an Anthony Jones assist ensured Kinmel Bay banked the win which keeps them within two points of leaders Penmaenmawr.

It was a difficult assignment for the visitors against a Llansannan side who had Jack Davies dismissed for a second yellow with 80 gone.

NORTH WALES COAST WEST PREMIER DIVISION

CPD Aberffraw 2 Glantraeth 3

For a good while it looked as if Aberffraw might end up celebrating that elusive first win of the season, but two late goals from Glantraeth settled Wednesday’s island derby.

Berffro were in good shape at half time, Aron Lewis-Davies and Luke Winter with the goals that gave them a 2-0 lead in their final game of a campaign which had featured three draws and 26 losses.

Steven Jones pulled one back for Glan just before the hour, but with 75 on the clock, the bottom side were still in front.

However, Robbie Jones equalised and Steven Jones delivered the decider from a Iwan Sawicz assist on 83.

CPD Llanystumdwy 2 CPD Mynydd Llandegai 2

David Hayes rescued a point for Llandegai with a 95th minute leveller.

Jamie Whitmore nudged the visitors in front before Tomos Williams squared the contest to make it one-apiece at the turnaround.

Rhodri Jones made it 2-1 to Llanystumdwy with 80 on the clock, but deep into added time, Whitmore set up Hayes to ensure it ended honours even.

Bethesda Athletic 7 Gwalchmai 1

Bethesda were crowned Premier Division champions after whipping their only remaining challengers Gwalchmai 7-1 at Parc Meurig.

Joe Todd (2), Osian Hughes (2, 1 pen), Steffan Davies, Kyle Hartleb and Corey Lundstram supplied the home goals, Marc Evans replying.

NORTH WALES COAST WEST DIVISION ONE

Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs 3 Amlwch Town 2

Champions Blaenau enjoyed an 11th straight win in Division One.

Callum Hughes gave Amlwch a 12th minute lead, Ian Roberts levelled from the spot on 20 and Iwan Jones put the Quarrymen in front after 22.

Sub Gethin Roberts made it 3-1 two minutes after the restart, but Amlwch stayed in contention after Corben Renton’s net-finder after 80.

NEWFL RESERVE DIVISION GROUP B

FC Queen’s Park Reserves 2 Johnstown YFC Reserves 3

Sub Kian Foulkes plundered a 91st minute winner for Johnstown.

Liam Lawrence and Dannee Pickup put the Park two-up early in the second half, but the J men fought back well to win it with goals from Callum Poole, Rob Cooper and Foulkes.
