NORTH WALES COAST LEAGUE WEST

Premier Division

League games remaining for top two

Bethesda Athletic: May 10 – CPD Aberffraw (away); May 14 – Gwalchmai (home); May 22 – CPD Boded (a)

Gwalchmai: May 14 – Bethesda Athletic (away); May 20 – CPD Llanystumdwy (home); May 22 – CPD Pentraeth (away); May 26 – Bontnewydd (home)

  • Gwalchmai are also still in the Cwpan Snowdonia Fire and Security Cup where they visit CPD Llanberis on May 16 in the quarter-finals. Potentially, still 7 more games for Gwalch.

Gwalchmai 1 CPD Nefyn United 1

Friday night’s result at Maes Meurig probably suited Premier Division leaders Bethesda Athletic more than anyone else.

A Gwalchmai victory would have cut the gap on Pesda to two points with a game in hand, while Nefyn would have pulled level on points with the Ogwen table-toppers had they achieved the desired win.

As it was, both high-flyers maintained their long unbeaten records.

Nefyn, whose fixtures are now completed, end the campaign on a run of 21 league matches without defeat.

Gwalchmai, who are now the only side which can pip Bethesda to the title, have not suffered a league loss in 14 outings.

Tomi Evans

Tomi Evans, undoubtedly one of the Premier players of the season, handed Nefyn a 47th minute lead with his 30th goal in all competitions this term.

Gwalchmai levelled on 67 minutes when Dion Jones provided the assist for Marc Evans to put away his 18th goal of the season.

Both keepers produced fantastic saves – Tyler Jones for Gwalchmai and Nefyn’s Alex Ward-Jones, brilliant all season.

Glantraeth 2 Talysarn Celts 4

Talysarn ended their league season on a high with a good win at Cae Glantraeth.

Jac Pearce Jones (2), Luke Baum’s 15th goal this term and a Jack Usher strike secured the points for Wayne Jones’ team.

Andy Clarke’s 13th of the season and Tomos Hughes made up the Glantraeth replies.

CPD Llanberis 4 CPD Pentraeth 0

Two goals from Gethin Maxwell, a single from 16-year-old Guto Wyn Jones and a further strike from sub Huw Owen clinched an emphatic victory for the Darans, who leapt up to an impressive fourth in the table.

Llanrug United 2 Bontnewydd 0

Owain Jones notched his 11th and 12th goals of the season in a home triumph for Llanrug over a Bont side which suffered a seventh straight defeat.

Jones’ net-finders came on 48 and 70 minutes.
