“Let’s stick together in an incredibly important 2025-26 season” – Bangor City 1876 chairman

Bangor City 1876 chairman Glynne Roberts has stressed the importance of togetherness ahead of a 2025-26 season he describes as “incredibly important” for the club.

Fan-owned 1876 suffered a crushing blow when they were relegated from Tier 2 Cymru North on the final day of the current campaign after a demoralising run of results over the closing weeks.

It brought what had been a meteoric rise from Tier 5 to 2 to a grinding halt for a club formed in 2019-20.

However, chairman Roberts, welcoming the fact 1876 was granted a Tier 2 licence by the FAW this week, said bouncing back next season is key to the club’s aims.

He said: “Firstly, the FAW have confirmed that we would qualify for a Tier 2 licence.

While some may see this as irrelevant given that we will be playing in Tier 3, it demonstrates that the work that has been going on to meet the licencing criteria, between the club and the stadium, means that we can demonstrate we are in a good position off the field, and push for automatic promotion next season with the confidence that we have met the necessary criteria.

“Getting back into Tier 2 is the priority, and (managers) Michael Johnston and Sean Eardley have already been identifying what they need to create a squad that is capable of winning the league. Last season, they were assisted by Gareth Williams, who has decided to step down. Our heartfelt thanks go out to Gareth for all that he has given to the club since coming in as coach.

“A new development side is being established, emphasising the partnership with Penrhosgarnedd, and creating the pathway for local players to get to the first team.

“The new season is likely to start in mid-July. Over the coming weeks, there will be announcements about an exciting new kit and merchandise, and, when the new registration period opens, player signings will be announced.

“This is going to be an incredibly important season for us, and we need to be together, as one, in making sure that we can be the best we can be. Let’s be positive, let’s get behind the team, and let’s make sure that Bangor City 1876 get promoted.”

Meddai Glynne:

“Yn gyntaf, mae’r Gymdeithas Pel-Droed wedi cadarnhau y byddem yn gymwys ar gyfer trwydded Haen 2.

Er y gallai rhai weld hyn yn amherthnasol o ystyried y byddwn yn chwarae yn Haen 3, mae’n dangos bod y gwaith sydd wedi bod yn mynd ymlaen i gyrraedd y meini prawf trwyddedu, rhwng y clwb a’r stadiwm, yn golygu y gallwn ddangos ein bod mewn sefyllfa dda oddi ar y cae, a gwthio am ddyrchafiad awtomatig y tymor nesaf gyda’r hyder ein bod wedi bodloni’r meini prawf angenrheidiol.

“Dychwelyd i Haen 2 yw’r flaenoriaeth, ac mae Johno ac Eards eisoes wedi bod yn adnabod yr hyn sydd ei angen arnynt i greu carfan sy’n gallu ennill y gynghrair. Y tymor diwethaf, cawsant eu cynorthwyo gan Gareth Williams, sydd wedi penderfynu rhoi’r gorau iddi fel hyfforddwr. Mae ein diolch o waelod calon i Gareth am bopeth mae wedi ei roi i’r clwb ers dod iddo ddod mewn.

“Mae tîm datblygu newydd yn cael ei sefydlu, gan bwysleisio’r bartneriaeth gyda Phenrhosgarnedd, a chreu llwybr i chwaraewyr lleol gyrraedd y tîm cyntaf.

“Mae’r tymor newydd yn debygol o ddechrau ganol mis Gorffennaf. Dros yr wythnosau nesaf, bydd cyhoeddiadau cyffrous am git a nwyddau newydd, a, phan fydd y cyfnod cofrestru newydd yn agor, bydd cyhoeddusrwydd am y chwaraewyr newydd sy’n yn cael eu llofnodi.

“Mae hwn yn mynd i fod yn dymor anhygoel o bwysig i ni, ac mae angen inni fod gyda’n gilydd, fel un, i wneud yn siŵr y gallwn fod y gorau y gallwn fod. Gadewch i ni fod yn bositif, gadewch i ni gefnogi’r tîm, a gadewch i ni sicrhau bod Dinas Bangor 1876 yn cael dyrchafiad.”
