Queen’s Park lift Horace Wynne Cup for third time in four seasons!

Celebration time for FC Queen’s Park and their supporters

HORACE WYNNE CUP FINAL 2024-25

FC Queen’s Park 1 (N Williams 81)
Rhostyllen 0

Congratulations to FC Queen’s Park – Horace Wynne Cup winners for the third time in four seasons.

Nicky Williams’ 15th goal of the campaign in the 81st minute settled a close-fought final with Rhostyllen played at Airbus UK Broughton’s Hollingsworth Group Stadium.

The Park’s love affair with the Horace Wynne continued, but this was also the club’s SEVENTH trophy in the past four active seasons.

Bear in mind that in the current decade, the 2019-20 campaign ceased early due to Covid, so no cup finals were played, and 2020-21 was wiped out completely for the same reason.

Friday’s final was a really tight encounter.

Both teams looked dangerous on set plays but both keepers – Mark Richards of Rhostyllen and the Park’s Josh Edwards -performed really well.

Sub Curtis Neary came off the bench on 79 and two minutes later set up the decider.

Neary played a lovely ball over to Williams, who spun the centre back and rifled a strike from a crazy angle into the roof of the net.

That was enough to win the cup and man of the match was Williams, operating up front on his own and in the late stages like a man possessed, holding the ball up, winning free kicks and seeing the game out.
