CPDM Henllan’s much-loved and respected coach Gerwyn Jones is stepping down
If Sunday’s 8-0 win for CPDM Henllan turns out to be their last game of the season, it marks the end of a very special era for the village club.
Gerwyn Jones has decided to step down as coach to spend more time with his family,
Gerwyn has been at the club for 10 years, starting with the junior boys and the last eight with the girls/women’s.
He has enjoyed tremendous success in the last four years in the junior section, lifting three cups, two league titles (winning every game), reaching the semi final of the Under-16 Welsh Cup in 2023, and this season joining the women’s league.
Henllan have challenged for the East Division title for most of the season, beating the likes of Airbus, Llangefni and Berriew and also reaching the final of the Shield.
A CPD Henllan statement said: “The club would like to thank him for his hard work, commitment and kindness, never raising his voice once, never having any run ins with other teams or officials and the main reason why most of this talented bunch of girls have stayed loyal to the club. He will be sorely missed.”
Without people like Gerwyn Jones, girls and women’s football in North Wales would not be thriving in the way it is. Thank you for everything Gerwyn.
