North Wales Hotshots: Can magic Meilir still make it to the fabulous 50?

Can CPD Llanuwchllyn’s amazing marksman Meilir Williams become the only player in North Wales men’s senior football to hit the 50-goal milestone this season?
After his hat-trick in Saturday’s 7-0 win over Radnor Valley, Meilir is on 49 goals for 2024-25.
As far as Grassroots North Wales is aware, Llanuwchllyn have one game left – the Ardal Northern play-off against Holyhead Hotspur to decide who joins CPD Y Rhyl 1879 and Brickfield Rangers in the Cymru North next season.
NOTE: all promotions mentioned above are subject to clubs securing the compulsory Tier 2 licence from the FAW.
Here is the latest list of North Wales’ leading scorers this season – we’ve set the bar at 30.
Meilir Williams (Llanuwchllyn) 49 goals
(38 league, 11 cups)

Six hat-tricks this season and 49 goals in all competitions – this 28-year-old is a Tier 3 phenomenon.
Meilir’s 38 league goals make him the Ardal North East top marksman in 2024-25 by some distance. In fact, he is the leading hitman for the entire Ardal Northern section and the most prolific in the top three tiers affecting North Wales.
His 49 goals this term betters his tally of 45 for Llanuwchllyn achieved last season.
Meilir has netted 94 goals in 80 appearances for Sion Tudor’s side.
Jayden Evans (Broughton United) 45
(39 league, 6 cups)

With 45 goals in 28 appearances, this 18-year-old hot prospect has been nothing short of sensational.
He is also one of the chief reasons why Broughton United have been crowned North East Wales Championship Division title-winners in their debut season.
Jacob Jones (Kinmel Bay/Kinmel Bay Development) 35
(league 33, cup 2)

Magical young talent who has the most goals and assists in the NWCFA Development League this season.
Jacob has also knocked in a few for Kinmel Bay’s first team, giving him a tremendous overall total of 35.
Mike Jones (Prestatyn Sports) 35
(league 33, cup 2)

Veteran net-finder Mike (Smurf) is confirmed as North Wales Coast East Division One top-scorer for 2024-25 and currently leads the chart for the entire East league.
Robert Reynolds (Gresford Athletic Reserves) 34
(34 league)

Magnificent consistency from Rob, who has scored in almost every match he has played for the Colliers.
Harry Massey (Lex XI) 34
(22 league, 12 cups)

Top goalscorer in the tier 4 North East Wales Premier Division and a true star for his club Lex XI.
A tremendous first season with the Lawmen, goals in abundance in both league and cup.
Andy Vale (Brickfield Rangers) 34
(22 league, 12 cup)

Brickfield look a great bet for the Ardal North East title plus promotion to the Cymru North in 2025-26.
One of their biggest success stories has been consistent marksman in both league and cup, the long-serving Vale.
Adam Hold (Penmaenmawr Phoenix) 34
(23 league, 11 cups)

What an amazing season this man has had.
Joined Pen last summer and his goals have already helped secure the Cookson Cup, with the Premier Division title and NWCFA Intermediate Cup also a possibility.
Tomos Watkin-Jones (CPD Cerrigydrudion) 33
(27 league, 6 cups)

Currently leading scorer in the North Wales Coast East Premier, Jones has been in scintillating form for Cerrig.
Daniel Williams (Penmaenmawr Phoenix) 33
(league 21 cup 12)

Like team-mate Hold, Williams has been unstoppable in the goal stakes for the treble-chasers from Cae Sling.
Lewis James (CPD Yr Wyddgrug) 32
(31 league, 1 cup)

Has lost goals due to Deeside United’s very late withdrawal from the North East Wales Championship and their results being expunged, but still this great goal-bagger has notched above the 30-mark.
Dylan Proctor (CPD Y Rhyl 1879) 31
(league 28, cup 3)

His goals have made a huge difference in Rhyl 1879 being crowned 2024-25 Ardal North West champions, as opposed to the near misses of the previous two seasons.
It is not just the volume of goals he scores, but also the quality. Proctor is already established as a Lilywhites great. Ardal North West leading goal-getter for 2024-25.
Cian Pritchard (Penrhyndeudraeth) 31
(league 26, cups 5)

This 19-year-old wizard is presently joint top scorer in the North Wales Coast West Premier.
His goal feats this season include six in one game.
Connor L Morris (Kinmel Bay 30
(league 21, cups 9)

Has missed spells of the season with injury but has still managed to reach 30 goals for the North Wales Coast East Premier title-chasers.
Connor has netted a stunning 91 goals in 89 appearances since joining Bay in July 2022 (subject to confirmation).
Jake Carey (Llandudno Swifts) 30
(league 25, cups 5)

Great season for Carey and Swifts – the club’s first in the North Wales Coast East League.
The skipper has piled up 30 goals in 25 appearances in a campaign when Swifts have finished runners-up in Division One. Great to see him in this list.
