FRIDAY, MAY 2 – REPORTS

CWPAN MENAI TRACTORS SEMI-FINAL

Bethesda Rovers 3 Llangoed and District 4

What a comeback!

Visitors Llangoed recovered from 3-0 down to clinch a place in the Cwpan Menai Tractor Final, where a meeting with either Blaenau Ffestiniog Amateurs or Caergybi awaits.

You will be hard pressed to find a more exciting game than the one which took place at Penrhiw on Friday night.

Rovers got off to a flyer when Jordan Pritchard set up Tom Williams for a third-minute opener.

In the 21st minute, Pritchard doubled the home lead with his 15th goal of the season.

Then four minutes into added time at the end of the first half, Williams made it 3-0 from an Adrian Roberts assist.

Carwyn Williams came on as a substitute for Llangoed early in the second half and made a big difference.

On 57 minutes Wayne Thomas supplied the assist for Williams to halve the deficit.

In the 75th minute it was 3-2, Mathew Owen teeing up Williams for his second.

However, the biggest drama was yet to come.

In the 79th minute the tie was all-square when Wayne Thomas made it three apiece.

The game was in its 95th minute when a shot came back off the post and Thomas’ instinctive strike from 20 yards – his 11th goal of the season – flew into the net to spark mayhem for The Puffins.

What a tremendous advert for tier 5 football! Blaenau and Caergybi meet in the other semi on Saturday.
