North Wales Coast East League: Phoenix and Bay march on as six Premier games produce 38 goals

Llanfairfechan Town 1 Penmaenmawr Phoenix 3
Saturday’s quarry derby was held at The Rec ground in Llanfairfechan where Penmaenmawr ran out 3-1 winners.
In front of a packed out crowd, this latest clash had an extra edge as the Quarry Cup was at stake as well as an important three league points for both teams.
It was the visitors and Premier Division leaders who started the game brightest, comfortably controlling possession and creating chances, Harley Crossfield came close in the opening minutes but was denied by Gavin Lewis in the home goal.
Mike Williams went close with a header that looked a certain goal only for a superb goal-line clearance.
The deadlock was broken in the 27th minute, Daniel Williams scoring his 33rd goal of the season in all competitions. A cross from strike partner Adam Hold found Williams at the back post and he applied a tidy finish into the bottom corner.
Six minutes later the away team doubled their lead when James Hobson found the back of the net for his 21st goal of the season, Hold again with the assist.
Four minutes after and another blow for the home team when Williams was brought down inside the box by Town keeper Lewis. Up stepped Hold who buried the ball into the top corner for his 32nd goal this term.
Half-time: 0-3
The second half saw a fast start from the home team who looked to have a mountain to climb. Some smart play in midfield led to a one-on-one chance with Elliot Jarvis pulling off a fantastic save.
Penmaenmawr’s Jamie Jones went close with an effort at the back post when Ricky Jones picked him out with a delightful pass.
Ellis Jones gave his side hope in the 68th minute. A breakaway attack from Cyril Carey released Jones who found the back of the net.
Both teams battled it out until the final whistle which saw the Phoenix take all 3 points for a second time this season against their rivals.
Llanfairfechan will get the opportunity to avenge the defeats when the sides meet again in the North Wales Coast Intermediate Cup Final on May 17.
Meanwhile the Phoenix turn their attention to the Cookson Cup Final next weekend against Kinmel Bay.
Kinmel Bay 6 Bow 2

Hat-trick hero Connor Morris reached the 30-goal mark for the season in all competitions as Kinmel Bay kept their title surge moving with a 6-2 success over Bow.
That made is six straight wins for second-place Bay, who are undefeated in 18 league matches – 14 of them wins.
This was Kinmel’s fourth victory over Bow this term, having beaten them twice in the league, as well as the Welsh Cup and Cookson Cup.
Sean Sheridan, Matty Rees and Tate Walker also found the net for the hosts, but Bow played better than the scoreline may suggest, captain Joe Carey with both of their goals.
CPD Cerrigydrudion 5 Glan Conwy 3
Cerrig needed two goals in the last 20 minutes to clinch the points against a determined Glan Conwy.
Glan led twice in the first half and were 2-1 up at the interval, Dion Lloyd (penalty) and Mackenzie Williams on the mark, Alfie Harrison responding.
When Franky Gughrill made it 3-1 to the visitors early in the second half, it looked very promising for the Conwy Valley men.
However, by the midway point of the half, Tirion Griffiths and Tegid Williams had both struck to level the match.
Griffiths then converfed a 71st minute penalty to give Cerrig the lead for the first time and Harri Watkin-Jones’ late strike sealed the victory.
CPD Y Glannau 5 Llandudno Amateurs 2
Dan Price (2), David McHugh, Josh Macgillivray and Chris McQuillen shared the goals in this Glannau victory, Scott Kearney and James Cory replying for the Amateurs, who had Euan Hince dismissed on 33 minutes for two yellows.
Llandudno Junction 4 Mochdre Sports 2

Junction led Saturday’s derby 2-0, were pegged back to 2-2, but then pressed on to win the contest 4-2.
Mathew Jones (pen) and Joe Roberts put the Railwaymen in control before Niall Owen and Aidan Roberts hit back for Sports.
Mathew Jones made it 3-2 on 69 minutes direct from a corner and Junction captain Stephen O’Neill added another for the hosts after 74.
CPD Llansannan 2 Meliden 3
Magic Meliden fought back from two-down at half time to grab three points at the Llan Siro.
Lewys Jones and Brychan Edwards were on target for the hosts in the first half, but after the break the Miners rallied, sub Kieran Garnett-Hughes beginning the comeback before Rio Ross and Macauley Ross added further away goals to win the day.
Division One
CPD Henllan 6 Blue Bridge 1
Steffan Jones (2), Ryan Williams, captain Dan Lewis and Harry Payne (2, 1 penalty) shared the goals as Henllan rattled up six against the Bridge, Tom Dodd replying.
Big credit to Blue Bridge for playing all their fixtures and despite some heavy defeats in their debut season never giving in and always putting in the effort.
