Adran North: Llandudno end disappointing season on a six-goal high

Llandudno ended what has been a disappointing season overall on a high note with a six-goal show at the Go Goodwins Stadium.
Genero Adran North champions in two of the previous three seasons, Tudno only finished fourth this term with a record of six wins, four draws and four losses.
The main reason for the decline has been the loss of key players, especially defender Shona Roberts to Flint, plus the early departure of chief goal-getter Ella Jones to champions Connah’s Quay, as well as the unavailability all season of striker Stevie Donougher through injury.
The absence of last season’s championship-winning keeper Megan Robinson from November until the final game was also a major setback, the team often having to field makeshift stoppers in some vital matches.
Midfield ace Ffion Owen joining Llangefni Town in the summer was also a big blow.
On the plus side, the emergence of young talents such as Angharad Jones, Amelia Mercer, Anna Carey and keeper Beca Davies has been a positive, while the 22 goals of Kelsey Davies have really lifted the team.
Davies netted 19 in the 2023-24 title winning season, but her quartet in Sunday’s 6-1 beating of Rhyl secured her a personal best.
In a flying start, Davies struck twice in the opening six minutes before Chelsea Evans replied for the visitors on nine.
Davies completed her hat-trick by the 24th minute and Rebecca Jarvis-Evans netted in added time at the end of the first half to make it 4-1 at the break.
Four minutes into the second half, Davies added a fourth and Maddie Williams also found the net before the end.
For Rhyl, it was a disappointing result, but a decent end to the campaign ensured they finished sixth in the eight-team league.
Manager Cassie Thomas said: “Not the way we wanted the season to end but we know that it doesn’t define our season.
“I am really proud of these ladies this season, they have really grafted as individuals and as a team and that has shown in the performances. Now to start building onto next season.”
Captain Rachael Thomas was the choice for Rhyl’s player of the match.
Cassie added: “Leading by example yet again, always available to receive the ball to try and create patterns of play and covered every part of the pitch.
“Massive thank you to everyone who has supported us this season and to all the club volunteers who make it possible for us to play every week.
“We’ve progressed so much as a team since the start of the season and can’t wait to keep building on that progress during pre season ready for the 25/26 campaign.”
