North Wales Coast East: Top three all win in the Premier, Swifts and Wanderers smash seven

NORTH WALES COAST EAST LEAGUE – REPORTS AND TABLES MARCH 22
PREMIER DIVISION

Meliden 0 Penmaenmawr Phoenix 6

Six second half goals ensured Phoenix made it 19 unbeaten in the league and remain four points behind leaders Y Glannau with six games in hand.
A stalemate first half saw Meliden set out in a low block and defend phenomenally, their organisation and desire completely nullifying the Pen attack but also meant they struggled to create any chances in the opposition half.
After the break it was the away team who stepped it up, dominating possession and with slick movement up front the Phoenix began to break down the solid back line of Meliden.
Ben Jarvis ended the deadlock in the 60th minute with a neat finish at the near post with the home keeper bearing down on the midfielder.
Pen doubled their lead seven minutes later with one of the goals of the season. A passage of play with around 15 passes from the back saw Logan Williams break down the right hand side and pull his cross to the edge of the area where midfielder Harley Crossfield buried the ball into the far corner.

Meliden’s Nathanial Hulme received a red card in the 70th minute for dissent. The afternoon got harder for the hosts in the 72nd minute when substitute Daniel Williams made an instant impact on the game scoring with his first touch.
A great cross from skipper Liam Griffiths was met at the back post by Williams who directed the ball into the back of the net with his head – his 30th goal of the season.
Jonathan Terry was also dismissed for the hosts, a second yellow card shown for bringing down a Pen player at the edge of the box in the 79th minute,

Kyle Cooper stepped up and banged the free kick into the top corner.
Striker Adam Hold capitalised for the away team, scoring twice in two minutes to bring his tally to 27 goals in all competitions for the season so far and rounding off a fine afternoon for the Pen men.
