Coach Lefty Wright departs from CPDM Bangor

Andrew ‘Lefty’ Wright has stepped down as first team coach at CPDM Bangor with immediate effect.
One of the most experienced figures involved in developing North Wales women’s football, Wright joined Bangor at the start of 2022-23 as part of a three-strong management team also including Aron Griffith and Lois Regan.
The trio had a hugely successful first season, guiding Bangor to the North Wales Women’s League title with an unbeaten record of 20 wins and two draws, with 120 goals scored and just eight conceded.
Bangor were promoted to the tier 2 Genero Adran North in 2023-24 and the same triumvirate remained in charge, ensuring the team achieved its aim of staying in the division.
This season has been a difficult ride at times, but the team still has a decent chance of avoiding the drop.
Wright has played a key role in the development of some outstanding young talent at Bangor, one of whom, Menna Evans, was named Genero Adran North Young Player of the Season 2023-24.
Before joining Bangor, Wright was a coach with CPDM Pwllheli between August 2020 and December 2021, Due to Covid, the team was only active competitively from the start of 2021-22.
Prior to that, Wright enjoyed many years of association with Amlwch Town, where he was men’s team manager for five years before stepping down in 2018.
He was also heavily involved in the development of a women’s team at Amlwch, as well as being a driving force behind the club’s junior section.
