Despite taking the lead Flint ended up suffering just a second home defeat in 16 matches as a more experienced Llanfair side took the honours.

Harriet Davies notched a hat-trick for the Powys visitors, who now have a firm hold on second spot in Adran North behind runaway leaders Connah’s Quay.

The Silkwomen were missing key players through injury, in particular Rosie Hughes who is still at least a week away from a return to action.

Playing their first match in three weeks, Flint made a good start when Kaelyn Williams set up Ruby Hastings to edge the hosts in front on 22 minutes.

Llanfair, by far the most improved team in Adran North, stormed back with three goals in a 10-minute spell at the end of the first half.

Davies struck on 37 and 45 after the talented Sophie Cook had equalised after 35.

The second half saw Flint hold their own well, and it was not until the 92nd minute that Davies completed her hat-trick.

After the match, Flint manager Oli Williams said: “Again we are naturally disappointed to not pick up 3 points but we have to stay focused on the bigger picture.

“Llanfair showed their experience in this league and came to us and got the job done. We are still a very young team who are still learning about the league and what it takes to beat experienced teams like Llanfair.

“We have a few injuries throughout the squad but it gives others in the squad the opportunity to come in and prove themselves.

“We have to remain realistic on where we are at currently, and stay focused on where we want to be next season. We will go again next week against NFA and look to get back to winning ways.”

Flint Town United v Llanfair United was the only women’s match played in North Wales yesterday.
